Sorry to hear that.
On the bright side at least you'll have a job to return to.

Yeah that might be tough. My wife is a RN that's been an ER and/or ICU nurse for over 15 years. She is working in a Corona positive unit. They need everything from tele, med surge, etc.

What are yall doing when she is at home? I know of nurses living in their garages or a separate area of the house and staying away from their spouse and children as much as possible when they are home.

They offered my wife to scan people at the door after they cut her to 4 hours a week but she said no thanks. She actually gave her 4 hours to a coworker that needs the money so she’s not going at all now

She's sleeping in the 5th wheel I have hooked up under an RV lean to off of my shop. Other than that, we still watch shows together and eat together, etc.

She's my wife and I would rather be with her and possibly get it myself. She's supported me through a combat deployment and I will support her through this.

Are hospitals just ignoring all other medical situations outside of corona now?

Right, but shouldn't there be required medical procedures still going on all the time?

Surgeries, scans, etc? Im not talking about the walk in clinics.

I know a lot of hospitals pull the majority of their revenue from the ER department

Wrong, just very wrong.

ERs are bigtime money pits. I'd be surprised if there is ANY ER in this country that actually makes money.

No we are not. BUT, I am working 15+ hours per day and weekends trying to keep the trains running on time for our people to be able to provide care.

Podnuh of mine is executive at BCBS, I spoke to him 2 nights ago to hear the insurance company perspective.

No pun intended, he said they are killing it.

Premiums are still coming in the door, all the elective bullshite visits and surgeries just ain't happening, and the Feds are going to reimburse them for most of this coronavirus expense.

My sister is a Nurse Practitioner in Manhattan and was furloughed for the first 3 weeks of this, but finally got called in this week. She was saying tons of her nursing friends were also home at that time and while they didn't say specifically why, her impression was they were trying to keep some fresh legs in the wings so not every nurse in the city would get overworked and over stressed right at the beginning

Hopefully it stays that way. ER isn’t a PCP

This is actually a very smart and proactive thing to do.
