I agree... There are way to many people that live their lives through hand outs and will do nothing to improve their lives. It's pisses me off that I am working every day and they don't do shite. But I am greatful that I have the desire to be a productive human being.

If he didn't have flood ins then he either owned his home outright or he was in zone x which mortgage lenders do not make you purchase flood ins because the risk of you flooding is so low as in .01% chance of flooding.
This only means your flood insurance rates would be next to nothing. You may not be required because you are outside of a 100yr flood plane, but what is your elevation above that. you need to take that into consideration, not just your requirement from a lender. I have a good friend in DS, she lost most everything in her home. They got about 3-4 feet inside. She like others didnt purchase ins because they werent required to. About 5-6 years ago, when yall had a big rain/storm, their street flooded and they didnt think anything of it, despite their house only being about 4-5 higher than street level.

You missed the first part of my post. I don't know the op nor what kind of situation he is in. Personally I have flood ins. I'm not a risk taker. As you said it's not that much money for most people. I was simply stating to the other poster that this type of event does not happen regularly. Lots of people flooded that never thought they would and might not ever flood again. It's not like these parts of Louisiana are below sea level. This was a very rare event, once in a life time I hope.

In one of the threads yesterday you made sure to let everyone know you make $120k a year.
OP makes $120k a year and needs foodstamps?

I really don't see the problem with the guy making $120 a year and getting food stamps because of the flooding. Now if someone else gets denied and doesn't have shite and this guy gets it I would be rather disturbed.

That's whats wrong with this country now. People wonder why we are taxed out the arse. This jackass has admitted to having "too much money in the bank", but yet looking for a spot at the public trough to eat. Go to the damn store and make some groceries with your own money. Why should I pay to feed this leech when he has money in the bank. People beg for what they need and buy what the want.

I think the issue most people are frustrated with is that those who have worked and paid into the system don't receive government assistance on a monthly basis; but when life kicks them in the teeth and the government is offering assistance, they still aren't eligible.
And the leeches that never contribute into the system continue to draw benefits. This is what is wrong with the system. Why punish someone for going to college, getting a good job and retaining it, while rewarding those that only take and never give into the economy? His taxes (which are high at his income level) have funded these other vulnerables all these years, now he wants to get a fraction of it back in a time of need. Seems reasonable to me.

No clue who qualifies for DSNAP. If you qualify for SNAP you get it automatically. If you are in a household of two with 40k a year you make too much.
So there is a small amount of people that qualifies unless they have a bunch of kids.

maybe it's just me, but when the OP said he has "too much money in the bank," I interpreted that as the BANKS telling him that he has too much money for him to qualify for DSNAP, not really bragging about his enormous stash of savings

There are income limits, just like regular SNAP.
Incorrect. We are in Lafayette Parish and AGI of 120k+. We received $357 of DSNAP benefits today.
My wife went and it took all of 30 minutes. Only verified SS#s of people in house and asked estimated household income, no verification needed.
$357 won't come close to replacing the meat I lost in my outdoor freezers.

NEVER happened. So ignorant.
Also, I was just pointing out that middle class folks get left behind as usual. It's one of the things that became a pet peeve when i lived in California. It's almost like the government WANTS people to be low wage and to never save.
I think a lot of you are entirely too rabid but at least you're easy to troll.
