I have appealed multiple times with blended results, but it's always worth a shot to cherry pick your own comparables for the tax appeal, and thereby also lay down a record should you wish to appeal to the state district court should you lose.

There are also contingency companies that handle that process but I've never used one.

How do you appeal? Does the Assessor lawyer up and do I need a lawyer?

"Market value is not indicative of assessed value."

True line said to me at a Ft. Bend County Assessor tax arbitration board. Your home will be valued at what the authorities need it to be valued at to pay for shite nobody needs, and didn't really ask for. The house I bought at 139k in 2008 (sold for 131k in 2010) is now valued at over 350k by the assessor. Stupendously dumb, considering it's the worst part of Katy ISD.

Mine grew 1.5k.

Just enough to put me out of homestead exemption.

I will probably pay about 10-20 dollars in taxes.

Show them some type of appraisal or some other documentation that the assessed value is inaccurate and they will probably reduce it.

I know people who work in various assessors offices in the NOLA area and that is their stock answer. “If you don’t like your assessment, don’t just complain about it, show me an appraisal “.

I’m not reading through 3 pages of comments but I’ve personally never seen a home and property assessed for even half the value of the actual home/property worth. This is in Arkansas though, out of 9 counties. Also, I’m drinking

Happening all over the country. Tax assessors don’t do the actual appraisal math. Just commit fraud to fund the government.

This dude out of Texas is really dialed into the scam. Is suing and putting all of the info online so other homeowners can sue too and put a stop to this BS once and for all. YouTube Interview

We’ll do it but move to a smaller community. Otherwise y’all will end up paying more. Can chief GRT not commute from Tangi?
