Having twins truly must be one of the coolest things ever. Congratulations.

Congrats, good luck and be very aware of twin to twin transfusion syndrome.

That only happens with identicals I believe. I think OP has fraternal if I remember correctly. Ours had it. Had to have surgery and everything.

Hopefully you will put just as much emotion into being a great father for your kids, as you are putting into thinking about the costs of "things"

I have twins (boys). My biggest recommendation, honestly, is have your wife put them on the same schedule from the beginning. Get her the book "12 hours in 12 weeks"; our kids were sleeping through the night by 10 weeks.

The immediate lack of sleep coupled with a work schedule was the toughest part. Puts a lot of strain on everything because you as the father cannot really delegate nighttime feedings completely to the wife since there's two of them.

Best of luck. Don't freak out,its a blessing. My little dudes have built in best friends. It's pretty awesome.

Edit: if they're two girls, disregard everything I said. Your life is going to suck and may God have mercy on your soul.

This is a late bump, but we just found out at week 18 that they are both girls. No questions or uncertainty about either one of them. Very excited, but still processing that I will never have a son (we are two and done).

Be prepared for unending comments about two weddings down the road.

I can't remember. Are they identical? Was there a widows peak between the sacs? If they are, please make sure to ask about them about twin to twin syndrome. We discovered ours had it around that time. I don't wanna scare you but it is something that needs to be ruled out.

My wife is 4 days away from her due date, and I'm a mix of emotions-between fear and excitement. I wish you all the best.

They have separate sacks and separate placentas, extremely small if any risk at all of t-t syndrome.

There is still a 50-50 chance they are identical or fraternal. Not a way to tell until the birth since they are the same gender.

Mick Jagger (who apparently is going to be a new father himself) said you can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes, you'll find, you get what you need.

Congrats.

Congrats. My wife and I had twins 4 weeks ago just shy of 34 weeks gestation. Both girls are doing great (3rd and 4th girls) but are still in the NICU as they learn to take all of their bottles. It has been really tiring trying to take care of both sets of kids, work, etc, but really fun to watch them develop outside of their normal setting for this period.

Your wife is going to be exhausted the whole pregnancy. Twins took a toll on my wife that a single baby didn't. Be prepared for weird things during the pregnancy, and be prepared for the Drs to take a good look and be ultra careful during the pregnancy.
One thing that has been really helpful for us is my Mother in Law set up a calendar for people to bring us meals, and that saved us during the final weeks of the pregnancy. We were blown away by the generosity of those around us, and I bet you would be too.

Check back in with me in a month and I should have a few weeks at home with them by then to give you a little more advice, and Ill be here after that as well.

good luck! you are about to be on a really cool journey

Not to be that guy, but only about 30% of identical twins have separate placentas. It is much more likely they're fraternal, but I get what you mean about 50/50 being either or in this case.

Congrats on being that guy. Newsflash, life costs money and unexpectedly having double the children is worth worrying about. Should he just not care and if he runs out of money, oh well?

Congrats OP.

Yeah I figured , it just got me thinking about to what the real numbers are on identical twins with separate placentas.
