Nope. Had Gasser not traveled down that certain street then JM would not have cut him off. Therefore, Gasser initiated the chase.

Being cut off was the catalyst that started the chase

If RG acts like an adult, there is no chase. Cutting someone off isn't illegal and certainly isn't grounds for a hissy fit, chase the guy down, and kill him.

This is just like the zimmerman case. If the guy with the gun minds his own business, nothing happens, whether it is legally justified or not.

Had Gasser not even gotten out of bed that day then JM would have just cut someone else off and that person would chased him....JM provoked the chase

If you want to get into a pissy little argument, you could say that Joe's front left tire was not in the lane. Youre gonna honestly sit there and say Joe is where he should be on the road?

Let alone stopping in the middle of the road and getting out of his car. Can you just do that in driving lanes now

I don't believe anyone is arguing McKnight acted reasonably at the intersection.

I agree. It's Gasser's fault for getting out of bed.

Seriously, if you tried to make your argument in trial, you'd be laughed out the courtroom.

Zimmerman was way more justified than this.

Just dropping in to see if you still think you're being reasonable...

I agree. I meant more the minding your own business. If zim stays in the car nothing happens. If RG drives away, nothing happens.

The Zimmerman case chaps my arse, but it was legally justified. It's not the first time LEOs have told someone to stand down, been ignored, and ended up with a death on their hand. I can live with self defense, but I'm not a fan of the situations where a reasonable person would have avoided the conflict altogether.

I understand why the law works the way it does, but I can't help but feel like Zimmerman et al are essentially a loophole.

That law team was sick. Even fattening him up was a slick move.

It’s a white guy and a black guy in NO in this political climate. Race is going to be an issue.

No way a black jury lets this guy off. He’s going to the pen. It won’t matter even if Joe was jumping into his car.
I think he should take some blame. But joe did approach him.
When you get out of a car, barring an actual wreck , you take it to another level.
