You just chased this guy from The Bridge down General Degaulle and down Behrman Highway. Do you think Joe got out the car to tell the guy his tail light was broken? If someone is chasing me for miles and then approaches my vehicle at first opportunity, that mother f***** is getting shot.
That certainly carries a lot of weight.

Such a sad story. Waste of a life.
Is this being tried in JP or Orleans?

Facts only pls. The only facts in your post are the street names.
quote:
Witnesses told law enforcement that Gasser and McKnight were involved in a "heated verbal exchange," each man inside his respective vehicle. The witnesses then heard a "rapid succession" of gunfire which drew their attention back to the men. At that point, they told police, they saw Gasser standing behind the vehicles and McKnight lying on the pavement between the Infinity and Audi.

frick that. I know how to get out of jury duty.
Can someone tell me why this guy is not allowed to defend himself?

Was that the same witness that said McKnight was pleading for his life.
How many of these Witnesses are credible because most of them seem pretty determine the put the blame on white man

What color is Joe?
What color Gasser?

Literally no one has said this.
But if Joe was simply standing there yelling and making no attempt to reach inside the car or anything, it's not self defense, it's murder.
You seem to have all the facts though. Why don't you call the sheriff and let him know the trial is unnecessary?

No it wasn't. That was from the first article out. I quoted from a later one.
You've got some retarded logic here man.

I have faith in the Jefferson Parish Police Department.
Can you list the facts as you know them?

No you just mad. You just mad that Joe McKnight got shot, But you're not taking into account his actions. It's a sad situation but you want to paint the shooter as a murderer right now because he shot Joe McKnight football star.

The same department who released the guy then arrested and charged him after they had their facts together?

Um I have. You've been spewing a bunch of emotional biased crap that has no basis in fact.

How am I mad?
I don't care about Joe McKnight. I didn't know him, he played for teams I didn't care about.
I'm looking at this objectively while as evidenced by your posts, you're making it a white vs black issue.

This case is going to hinge on what McKnight was doing at the window. If ballistics can show that he was leaned over into the window and reaching towards the shooter then you may see an acquittal. But if he was upright and outside the window, it should be murder. This is one of those cases where forensics will really play a big part.
Disagree
Forensics and ballistics will have little importance on this trial.
This case will hinge on the motive and mindsets of the defendant and victim. And how well the state can paint the defendant into an angry, aggressive road rage attacker.

Of course they don't.

They pretty much immediately discredited the absurd witness claim of him shooting McKnight and taunting him then shooting again.

I mean, if someone is following you for miles because you pissed them off while driving, catches up to you at a red light, gets out of their car, and comes up to your open window, you have to start thinking they mean business.

It comes down to.....can he articulate that it was reasonable to believe his life was in danger?

quote:
Sheriff Normand said the confrontation began after both drivers were driving erratically, cutting each other off and zipping in front of each other, according to Mr. Gasser and witnesses.
Mr. Gasser said he became irate and engaged in a “verbal altercation” with the football player. When they stopped next to each other at a red light, Mr. McKnight got out of his car and approached Mr. Gasser’s car window. Mr. Gasser then pulled out a handgun from between his seat and the console and shot Mr. McKnight, Sheriff Normand said.
That doesn't sound good for gasser and it's out of his own mouth. If he just shot him as he walked up, it's murder.

If someone is attempting to gain entry into your vehicle, you can legally shoot them, armed or not.
Standing at the door even if he was yelling doesn't mean he was trying to gain entry.
