If you've ever watched that movie Night Crawler you would give her the money as well. People that do that stuff are POS.
No the frick I wouldn't. I watched that movie and understand the hustle.
They sign up for that when they become rich and famous.
Everyone here has seen Paul Walker's crispy corpse.

What do they have to do with deputies and firefighters taking pictures of Kobe et al.‘s corpses?
Not one thing. I just believe that today's "journalists" are corrupt and groomers. No respect for their trade. Completely unprofessional.

Who pays the $16m?
Likely the County to a certain level and then multiple layers of excess insurance above the county’s deductible/retention.

These weren’t bystanders that took and sold those photos.
They were first responders, who are typically bound by ethics to not do that.

To go along with that $7mm "sorry for cheating" ring he gave her. What a stupid world.

If this is the case, why is the media getting blamed? Who's responsible for this mess?

TMZ, etc. would have paid good money for those pics.

Should be addressed. Period. Luckily she has the means to do it and also managed to help another family in the process with the same civil suit.
Yep. It is one thing for press to cover a wreck or crash like this from a distance, which is what happens most all the time. This time, it was the people who were supposed to be trying to help the situation, not report on it. Most stringers don't even go to the length to "cover a story". Then, there's the issue of any company that published those pics. I don't know if any of them did, but that is just as fricked up.

Some of y’all should do some homework before blindly adding your two cents…of which most of you should get change.

Clearly it wasn't about the money, but that's why we have a legal system.
But lets also put the blame on society in general. Those pictures were worth a lot of money because it would have drawn many viewers to wherever they were posted. I know there is little shame when it comes to having pictures that are worth something, but have some decency. There has to be a line somewhere.

Excessive and absurd award which should be reduced by the judge. It wasn’t a wrongful death suit. She was already upset by his death, and this certainly added to that suffering, but $16mill. Cmon.

She's a woman, she always wants more money.
That's why all it took was a giant arse diamond to forget her husband cheated on her and raped a woman.
She's a money grubbing hoe.

The lawsuit was justified. It wasn’t about money.

Someone has to be held accountable so you hit them where it hurts. I don't the first responder who took them had much to sue for.
Now media outlets will have to be careful when a situation like this happens. Or the first responder will have to find away to sell them without being tied to it, but either it holds them accountable because they are the ones who buy and then publish it.
