mean should we really ruin a guys life who makes $25/hour for not eating a bullet for his job?
Not of he works at McDonald's, but for a police officer, yes.

The Supreme Court has clearly ruled that Law Enforcement has "no duty to act/protect" in non-custodial situations. These charges and this trial was ridiculous from the start.
I believe that is the 7-2 Castle Rock vs Gonzales decision that states law enforcement has no constitutional duty to protect.

Watch the Nashville guys from 2023 to see how it is done in 14 minutes.

I’m not watching the video again but that one guy advanced down the hallway, to just outside the door. He certainly appears to be ready to do whatever needed to be done.
Out of the 20 or so officers cowering in the lobby, not a single officer backed him up. Had even one officer backed him up, I think the outcome would have been very different.
He eventually retreated to the lobby after reaching the conclusion he would be going through a possibly barricaded door outgunned and by himself.
For me, this was the most damning part of the cops performance that day. They had someone step up. Out of the dozens of other cops, not one of them would back up the brave cop who moved forward.

Never for any good reason. Usually women.
