Quote from a different article but relevant

quote:

In 2003, writing for the majority in Grutter v. Bollinger, Sandra Day O'Connor upheld race-based discrimination in college admissions ... but only for the current generation. Such policies "must be limited in time," she wrote, adding that "the court expects that 25 years from now, the use of racial preferences will no longer be necessary to further the interest approved today."

Anyone really believe between this ruling and 2028 that affirmative action will have reached the end? Goal posts keep moving and there really is no end in sight.

It better end by 2028.

By that point, AA will have been in place for roughly 60 years (3 generations).

Honestly 60 years is likely 4 generations for most of them.

This isn’t remotely clever.

it would be possible to look beyond race in college admissions, that time was not yet here.”

Wait, why are we told at every turn to look beyond race... that's crammed down our throats everywhere, even though I would do that willfully because I don't look at things in that light anyway, but it is still put in our face incessantly which I don't care for...forced acceptance of just about anything is not my cup of tea.

However here comes this judge who wants to cherry pick when it's ok to not look past race. Seems like it shouldn't be that way...either we are supposed to be a color blind society or not. And on top of that it is freaking 2019, we should be past quotas for races already. One either has the credentials and qualifications or not.

Goal posts have to keep moving because putting underqualified people into positions based on what they look like shockingly does little to help said people.

Leftists don't possess the ability to look beyond their beloved hypotheses and instead think critically about the motivations and consequences created. It's all about emotion and feelings and what should be - not what is.

It's an ideology which rejects reality.

No shite. That is an ideology which says “If a man now says he is a woman, you are evil if you don’t call him a woman or suck his dick.”

Wasn't this already decided by the SCOTUS in the University of Michigan case ?

Nothing like trying to combat racism with more racism. What bizarro double standards we've created and been asked to accept.

I think the Michigan case was about “positive” discrimination, to where black applicants were getting a lot of “points” simply for being black.

This is “negative” discrimination, where Asians are being kept out because the school wants other students. You have kids with much higher grades and scores than everyone else who can’t get in because they don’t want to be too heavily Asian.

50 years isn't long enough. If no progress has been seen, the solution is more time.

It couldn't possibly be my ideas that are flawed because they make me feel warm and fuzzy inside, and I'm quite attached to them.

Progressives have been spouting communism since 1840’s. Unfortunately it’s never been done right nor given enough time. Next time it will certainly work

The pride and dignity that once came with a college degree has been diminished so much..

Maybe we should send them down to Venezuela for field trials then.
