The video I saw was very poor quality, but I think HuffPost or The Guardian even said the kid had the gun in his hands at his waist when police arrived. Kinda hard to tell from what I saw.

You're disingenuous naivety aside, how about they confirm that the suspect is holding a weapon in his hand, or even just confirmation that he actually has a weapon (something they did not see for themselves until after the kid was already shot and which was information the person who made the 911 call gave)

Da frick? The fact is, regardless of how much you spin the "perceived" threat angle, the only person who was in any danger at the park was the kid, and the only actual, physcial threat came from the cops. I guess you can't really call it a threat though, since there was no discussion or even attempt to assess the situation. More like a follow-through of a threat, minus the threat. So just immediate execution.

The concerned citizen told the cops the kid might have had a toy gun- he didn't even sound like he was concerned about safety as much concerned about intimidation. I mention this not because I would expect the cops to have been told that it might be a toy -though they absolutely should have been and whoever relayed the call to cops needs to lose their job- but because there really is no reason to bring the concerned citizen into the discussion, he did everything he was obligated to do as a citizen.







The kid was probably a little shite, but that's not an executable offense under any interpretation of the law.
