Those stupid service roads east of Airline along Florida made that area sort of shaky for retail to start with. Lots of car dealerships and repair shops. Which are now either empty or just lower rent versions of what was once there.

I see no reason they can’t turn Florida Blvd into a freeway east of airline. They can use the service roads as feeder roads. All it would take are some over passes over the cross streets.

Broadmoor isn't what it was in the 80s, but the neighborhood isn't terrible.

Lots of home renovations in Broadmoor.

Not sure about Sherwood. The area around the Catholic Church is good, but I think the flood really hurt the area east of there.

I drive Florida from Acadian to Denham from time to time, seems like there are new businesses popping up every week??? Sure there are some old, trashy AF buildings, but seems like businesses are tearing down the crap and putting up nice new buildings.

Today I went to the post office on Marilyn just off of Florida near the new McDonald’s.

I needed stamps for the first time in over a year. There used to be a vending machine to weigh packages and pay for postage or to get stamps.

The inside of PO looks like an abandoned 60s TG&Y.

Trashy, torn up and smashed lockers from when a car drove through the storefront.

I said out loud that this must be the crappiest place in Baton Rouge.

Around the corner was an old lady with her poodle. She commented about how the lockers were damaged.

I said that I was sorry for my comment, then told her that the place should be bulldozed to the ground.

They could leave the debris to match the rest of the town.

With the coming construction of the new Amazon distribution center we might obtain a honorable mention to Detroit.

Florida Boulevard was a going concern when I was a kid; it's very depressing to drive it now.

Louisville Ave. in Monroe is pretty bad too. But then there’s Ferriday. If you ever want to see the destruction of America, just drive through Ferriday.

Adams Toyota. The first Toyota dealership in BR was The House of Toyota, located on Florida across the street from Bon Marche Shopping Center. I vividly remember their TV commercials which would be grossly offensive and racist today.

But, having said that, Johnston street has significantly deteriorated in the past 7-10 years.

Stretch between Camellia & Ambassador is pretty ugly.

Florida East of about the Acadian intersection is Florida Boulevard. West of that intersection, it's Florida Street.

I forget where the line is exactly, but it's between N. Foster and N. Acadian.

I had to go to the collision center on Florida across from the greyhound station and I was shocked that an American city would look this bad

I lived on Marilyn while in elementary school in the mid 70's. As early as the first grade, friends and I would walk home without parents from Broadmoor Elementary. Great place to grow up.

And oddly enough, there was indeed a TG&Y in that shopping center at the time. The Broadmoor Theatre and a Tic-Toc shoes was there as well.

The desegregation lawsuit and eventual forced bussing was the undoing of Baton Rouge. Thank you Judge Parker.

The format of Florida out towards Sherwood is going to make it hard to improve.

Looked at a few gutted/reno'd houses in Broadmoor. Great value for your money, but you're still right next door to properties that will tank your property value for the next decade or so. Just depends on whether you're willing to be in it for the long haul.
