Which street is more depressing to you?
So many closed businesses on both streets

The death that occurs on a weekly basis, north of Florida Blvd.

Florida is considerably worse

The only thing that can compare to Florida Blvd depression level is Alexandria

Anything north of Government St is ghetto. South of Government is mostly okay

It's sad. When I was a kid Florida was the epicenter of BR commerce. Maybe Amazon will improve the area near Airline somewhat. It can't hurt.

Florida is WAAAAAAAAAAAY more depressing and it's not even close.

Florida Blvd. from N. Little John to the Livingston parish line is depressing.
But, having said that, Johnston street has significantly deteriorated in the past 7-10 years.

I think all of Florida is depressing

It sadder for me than I can properly explain. For me Baton Rouge nostalgia starts and ends with Florida Blvd.

Communities off of Plank in the 60's were working class, blue collar families. Places like Delmont Village were nothing like the blight that is seen today.

shite, Plank was still perfectly fine in the 80s

What part of Johnston are you talking about? North or south of ULL? Because there’s a big difference.
Posted on 2/6/21 at 12:17 pm to jimbeam
South. Like from past Judice Inn to ambassador

Eh. I don’t think it’s all that depressing. You have the stuff around Camellia, old academy that’s gone but everything else seems fairly normal?

Probably Florida, but the comparison isn't particularly apt. Florida basically forms the border of an extremely impoverished area of Baton Rouge. Johnston runs through the center of Lafayette.
ETA: Evangeline Throughway would probably be a better point of comparison.

When I was in college, the Ford dealership was at the intersection of N Foster and Greenwell Spgs Rd, and theToyota dealer was on Plank Rd. Later on and up until 15 years ago, most of the car dealerships were all along the eastern end of Florida Blvd. Now....
