Besides all that, we have a nuke power plant in our yard. If something would happen, we would need a way around that mess depending on winds.

But yet, BR gets a lot of power from said nuke plant.

Come sit on my back porch and just listen to the trucks and cars every morning/evening and that will tell you it is used a lot. That shite starts around 4am till about 8am Monday thru Friday. Hwy 10 is about 3/4 of a mile behind my house.

Also, the state paid me pennies on a dollar to steal land from me and other landowners.

Boo hoo.

Was the plant there when you bought your house?

It was part of the LTM group of projects that included interstate work and the Huey I Long bridge widening in Elmwood. It was paid with a half cent gas tax that taxpayers voted for.

Gorgeous bridge. Not sure why it is there. But gorgeous nonetheless.

This. It's an absolute waste of money which could have started the loop project or been more than enough to widen I-10 between downtown and the 10/12 Split, but it sure is nice.

No. The land I own , some was passed down to me others I bought, been in the family from the mid 1700.

While I dont disagree with that, this bridge was built with mainly federal tax dollars and was not built to alleviate traffic but to encourage economic development

I disagree with the entire concept but that is what was done

That's the funniest part. There was supposed to be a super Walmart and big development on the East side. WF said frick that, NIMBY. AFTER it was halfway completed.

That's terrible. We can't get the state to take land from areas that are in desperate need for traffic alleviation but they took your land for this big beautiful bridge that see's maybe 10k cars/trucks a day?

Oh well. Things change. Deal with it and the land you acquired for being a lucky frick. I bet Mikebr wouldn't be here bitching about the land he inherited in the 1700s.

You have to admit. That new Walmart is 1000% better than the old school one they had for years next to the cemetery.

But there should be one along 61 there. There's a wasteland of shite to stop at along 61 if you need anything. Sure the Chevron just north of 110 and the one in St Francisville is nice. But a Walmart between Zachary and Woodville along there would be nice.

ETA: the new Audubon market is super nice. But still need walmart for shite sometimes, when kids forget shoes at 6 am or some stupid shite.

If I remember correctly the bridge was part of the Zachary Taylor Parkway project that was supposed to make a bypass from I-49 to I-55. After the bridge was built they didn't see enough increase in traffic using that route and scrapped plans to widen the small state highways

So they should build a Wal-Mart because you get bored for 30 minutes?

Are you slow?

On a side note. For those that cross it coming from the east bank. On hwy10 from hwy 61. The speed limit is 55. A shite load of cops patrol the east bank section a lot.
