I moved to Old Forth Ward in 2004. Sold my house there and moved to Inman Park in 2018. Just sold my house in Inman Park and am renting right now to figure out what to do and where to go. To put this in perspective 2004 Old Fourth Ward was safer than current Buckhead is now. It isn't really about race as some of the most productive and best years in the city were the 8 years that Kasim Reed was in office. I would also throw in Shirley Franklin's last 3 years as being extremely positive. Bottoms has destroyed all that and she clearly doesn't give a crap and has checked out already before she is out in January. I have had some neighbors leave but mostly to move out of state. Many of the Atlanta suburbs are shitholes now as well so there aren't many options unless you want to move up to Jasper, Ellijay, Blue Ridge, or Mineral Bluff. Cobb will be what Gwinnett is now in 8 to 10 years. This whole situation could have been avoided with different leadership.

I've talked to people from other places (largely well meaning Democrats living in heavily white area) who don't understand why there is this backlash to BLM and all the recent theatrics associated with it. But I've told them to imagine living in a fairly high-crime city where 99% of the opportunistic or random violent crime and like 95% of the property crime is committed by black people. Then imagine you're asked to endure a crime spike involving the same demographics all while being told that the villains are those of us who try and avoid said crime. It's gaslighting on an industrial scale.

White crime in Atlanta is so rare that I'm amused and intrigued when I see news stories of white burglars and such in other parts of the country. That would be a novelty here.

I've considered having a custom "In this house we believe" sign made and putting it in the yard. I'd be the talk of the Next Door app if I did

Dude in my old neighborhood (ITP) used to have one like this. He's South African, which makes sense.

Cities like New Orleans and Atlanta have 100s of thousands of White people - of which are responsible for probably less than 3% of violent crime in the respective cities.

I hear you and I have considered a move over to either Brookhaven or the unincorporated area near the N Druid Hills and Clairmont Rd corridors. I love living in the city and my area hasn't been too impacted by all this crime other than the street racers on N Highland Ave. I have a neighbor who is a baw and told me he is going to throw a brick through the windshield of one of the 'super cars' or 'muscle cars' if he gets the chance when they speed by

That's a great area.

The whole vehicular lawlessness thing is just out-of-control. I don't think it's legal to ride dirt bikes and 4-wheelers wherever you want in unincorporated Dekalb County, but you sure wouldn't know it.

Yet this can't be talked about with my neighbors. They will shout you down if you even try. They blame white people for literally every act of violence in the city as the root cause. It is insanity. There is no such thing as accountability to these people. Most these people with the "in this house we believe" signs are just doing it because all their friends on social media are and are just trying to out do and one up each other. Its maximum virtue signaling for personal gain.

Given the Chambers connection (she was the ambassador to Belgium under Carter and the daughter of former Dem Ohio governor and presidential candidate James Cox), my guess is that her descendants are uber-progs that want to send a message to Gov. Kemp.

The Cox's havent owned that home in several years. Warren Jolly owns it or is at least the person who bought it from AC
