I've had it a few times over the years. It keeps getting deleted for some reason, so I guess I don't care for it all that much.

Sweet. I prefer Spotify anyway. Although occasionally I'll watch on Youtube if its a guest I really care to see him interact with.
there will be video on Spotify. but I'd much rather youtube myself. much easier to use

Joe Rogan is taking his podcast exclusively to Spotify Technology S.A. in a licensing deal worth more than $100 million, according to a person familiar with the matter.

guess I'll have to get a family account on Spotify now so my kids/wife can't keep taking my podcasts away mid listen
You should be able to download them for later listening
Kind of surprising Spotify has it capital for this. Wonder how much is performance based and/or paid in stock.

I'm not going to download spotify just for his show and only listening to clips is just garbage.
It takes like 12 seconds to download an app

Yeah if Spotify was waving $100m+ in my face I'd give no fricks about disappointing anyone. That's generational money, especially if well invested.

Are we sure?
Bill Simmons sold The Ringer podcasts to Spotify for $200M and the feeds are still available on other platforms.

How did Bill Simmons get $200 to $250 million and Joe get $100 million?

The ringer is not a single entity.

Especially if YouTube will demonetize or censor you on a whim, while allowing people who just take clips or make mash ups of your podcast and make bank. Smart move getting off of YouTube in this atmosphere on his part. He will probably benefit from more freedom in his podcast and subscribers will benefit by not dealing with YouTube ads, and a less censored platform.

Y’all remember when rogan was saying that he did his podcast because he didn’t want any conglomerate controlling his content... I member

Also smart on Spotify’s part. There’s a great opportunity for a rival to YouTube to make an appearance right about now, and Spotify, with a large user base and brand familiarity bringing in a few big names to launch a less restricted video hosting platform, would be perfect to fit that bill.

It's most likely a primary reason he's moving it, to stick it to youtube. They've really confined him a lot in the past couple of years, to the point where they can't show clips anymore (or worse, he has a guest react to a clip that the viewer/listener cannot see nor hear), and he had to stop live streaming.
If Spotify will let him do what the frick he wants, I have no problem tapping a different icon on my phone to listen to his content.

100%. Hes bitched AB YouTube sanctions for so long, glad to see he’s moving from it. Maybe if more heavy guns like rogan make similar moves YouTube may want to reconsider some things. Even more Interesting move if it’s bringing video to Spotify. If it doesn’t get video it may hurt more than help.

...and YouTube regulates his content. I doubt Spotify is half as draconian in censoring and copyright type woes. Ill informed and Weird gotcha attemp.
