I thought I said $10-$15 more an hour in my op.

$10-$15 more would put me between 115K and 125K a year. I work in the oil and gas industry.

Then yes I am correct with my math.

quote:

Checks out.
$10 / hr x 40 hrs x 50 weeks (not counting paid vacations since it's hourly) = $20k more.
$15 / hr increase = $30k

That is a $20k-$30k increase from whatever you are currently making.

Here OP, you should look at this and see where Indiana is before moving.

If we define the southeast as pretty much Kentucky south and east, then its not too absurd to consider Indiana the northeast. Hell the term Mid-west is the most ridiculous, but everyone accepts that

Ok guys, I know this is the North East US. That is not what I meant to type.

But it is north east from where I am currently located.

Man, y'all can be brutal.

If you are in O&G unless this is a good move career wise I don't know why you would leave Houston? Seems like long term Houston would be better but certainly short term go if you want to. Indianapolis is a pretty boring big city, but it's by no means a bad city at all. It's basically just a large clean place to live. It's centrally located but not close to anything really. I'm sure you can get dirt cheap flights everywhere though.

As far as it being not on a major body of water, again I didn't make that up. I saw it in Indianapolis as their own claim. Dallas was founded on the Trinity rivers. I thought the Red River was one of those but my bad if I'm wrong. I'm not claiming what I said I'm simply repeating it. Indianapolis was basically just a centrally located place that turned into a transportation hub. That's how it was formed. Not because there was a major navigable water way.

Wouldn't a major navigable water way city just be a transportation hub as well?

from O'Hare to downtown can take that long only about a 40 minute flight, or you can take a train, it's close enough

St. Elmo's might be enough to offset the downside of living in Indiana.

Both the cold and the snow seriously cut into my Buddy's Golfing this last winter. So I think if you like Outdoor activities, forget the winter
