Actually if you include my benefits and retirement, I gross right over $69k.
You have to work for a Jackson Prep or McCallie type school then, right? I've never heard of a gym teacher being paid half that. You have to work for a major private school.

What qualifications do you have for the new job? You say it's a superintendent position but can't even spell it.

I'd go!! Don't want to regret it later

My bad. Was typing quick. I hope I didn't offend momma and daddy Patal and I'm truly sorry that you were forced into those National Spelling Bees.

As far as I know that contract hadn't been awarded yet
Also I would be weary of someone hiring a gym teacher as a construction superintendent. Unless you have lots of construction experience somewhere

A gym teacher gets paid the same as any other teacher. I work for Ascension Parish public schools. Have a masters degree which bumps my pay some but they pay their teachers well.

Health insurance and retirement are probably 35% of his gross as a public school teacher

I'll look it up tomorrow
OP what experience does your proposed boss have in building something like that?

Run.
Fast.

if you want to be a general superintendent, and you have the required experience, you can just about name your price right now, for established, well run, successful GC's. however, since you say you are a PE teacher, i'm guessing you dont have that required experience
True.
To the OP. If your "number" is reasonably similar to your total comp number listed AND you see yourself making a future in construction, I say go for it. With a master's, you can always go back to teaching.
But if the market stays generally stable, in 5 years you'll have people verbally sucking your dick to come work for them for good money.
Now if "home life" is your thing, run. Being a super for any capable construction company means 50+ hour weeks and usually travel.
And that is if the project is going well.

4 10's generally and almost never weekends
it's a pretty good gig if you are good at it...which is the only way the project is going to "go well"
it takes a long time and a lot of work to get to that point though

If you're unsure, stay with teaching. Particularly if you have a good retirement

She's got plenty jobs lined up
This is just in my experience, but I have heard this before. "We are going to be busy for years. We have several huge projects starting soon". People are hired so they can show they have the man power to handle the project.. A month later.. The guy who was supposedly getting these jobs was pretty much blowing smoke everyone's arse..
The company ended up sending an email to all of it's employees. "If the client you are working for has more projects coming up please establish a good working relationship with them and inform them that we are available to take on more work".
The person who sent the email got moved to another position then quit and the company laid a bunch of people off.

She's a great person. I'd work for her in a heartbeat.

Damn. Wish your company would have offered me when I graduated.
Putting in 5 10's and one Saturday a month right now as an assistant. Can't argue with the money straight out of school though. That's what got me out here
