Is this another council on aging deal?

I'm really pulling for you right now, you go from being a middle school coach to defrauding the taxpayers

No shite?

And you're a fricking gym teacher. You are scrapping no more than 30K a year, so absolutely. Get out of that as soon as possible. Take a risk and drive Uber on the side.

If the start up don't work out you will always be able to go back teaching. It may be worth the risk in this situation.

i am a commercial general contractor in BR

if you want to be a general superintendent, and you have the required experience, you can just about name your price right now, for established, well run, successful GC's. however, since you say you are a PE teacher, i'm guessing you dont have that required experience

be wary of ANYONE who tells you they are going to leverage MBE/DBE set asides or preferred access into business growth...it just doesnt happen, at least it doesnt happen working for owners who you'd like to work for. they may say they take it into account, shite they might even have a "diversity" manager who says and soes the right things, but i am here to tell you that it is not in any way a path to success

Stick with the school job for now since you have a kid on the way.
Your wife will need your help and the last thing you need with a new baby is to start working long hours and being stressed out

How much can a gym teacher make? He can be a full time Uber driver and I'm sure he could make more money doing that. In my school growing up, I can't remember a gym teacher lasting more than a year or two. It's a kind of "things have totally gone to shite" job.

Get out of being a gym teacher, find some other opportunity to where you can at least feasibly make 50K, and then support your family. It may not be this position, but unless you're teaching an actual class, I say get out of it as soon as you can. Find an actual skill. Being a gym teacher requires none.

She isn't. I'm just saying it because I know she'll get some due to that. She's got plenty jobs lined up which is why she is reaching out to me to SI jobs for her. She's having to be on sites and not getting proper bids out on new projects. She's a sub on a large project that's coming up at the Lafayette airport. Has someone that contacted her and wants to build a parking garage near the airport. Numerous other home jobs. A couple smaller other commercial jobs.
