I dated a Jewish girl in college (the 80's) and my very Catholic mother was freaking out. Didn't know how to tell mom I wasn't going to marry her!

question for the class- why are Jewish people still to this day always moving around, fleeing real or perceived persecution?

When I was at LSU from 2011-2016 not that long ago I think out of state was 15% maybe at top 20%

Today I think it's 35% or higher.

He knows what he is talking about.

Though the first Soviet government – the Council of People’s Commissars – was mostly non-Jewish, Jews did occupy very prominent positions throughout the Bolshevik and communist chains of command vastly disproportionate to their percentage of the general population, Gorin confirmed.

They were key planners, including Trotsky himself.

Though I imagine jews were more Trotsky-ites than Stalinists.

According to him, the kids love it because being a "Jew" isn't really a thing in the south.

The Left say that the South and "flyover states" are havens for racists and hateful Christians, but it's gaslighting as usual. Nobody cares who you are, or what your background is down here, as long as you're a good person.

I think there is a bit of a difference between there being jewish Bolsheviks and calling the October Revolution a Jewish Coup.

Wall Street Journal says that there is less of a hyper political environment and more tolerance towards neutrality or even conservatism. This may be a factor as to why places like A&M, LSU, Alabama, and Georgia are seeing record breaking enrollment. And applicants say that the lower costs and better, less political experience on campus is a major factor.

quote:

“Some students are saying, ‘I don’t want to be in a super political environment,’ and they are opting into an atmosphere where they can focus on things other than politics,” he said

quote:

“There were more freedoms in the Southern schools and that really started to drive applications,” Vincent Pisano, an assistant principal in the Long Island school district Savalli attended. “Then the outreach really started to grow from the Southern schools. Schools like LSU and South Carolina started attracting huge groups of kids.”

quote:

Southern schools have, by and large, better track records on free speech, according to rankings by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, a nonprofit civil liberties group which has defended faculty and students in cases regarding speech issues. This year, most of the top 25 schools are located in the South. The six schools with the worst ratings were in the Northeast.

What about the movement was particularly jewish?

I guess better put, you think Judism was the binding characteristic of the leadership?

Fun fact: Ellick has two synagogues, each over 150 years old and situated within a few blocks of each other. One recently hired the rabbi away from the other. Maybe its my vivid imagination but I envision this going over like Saban to Alabama.

Socialism is prominent among Eastern European Jews.

quote:

The remarkable prominence of Jews in all socialist movements, whether revolutionary or reformist, universalist or nationalist, is a phenomenon which requires explanation. Every generation during the past two centuries has produced a small but select group of Jewish youths who fought for the establishment of one form of utopia or another. Some scholars regard this utopian impulse as a modern secular version of the messianic tradition and of the promise for an ideal future implied in biblical prophecy. But it seems more reasonable to seek an explanation in more recent times.

With the beginning of emancipation in the wake of the French Revolution, many Jews became inpatient with the slow advance of liberalism.

jewish socialismThe universalist message, the vision of a just society, obviously appealed to members of a persecuted minority anxious to liberate themselves from the status of pariah and to join the “Brotherhood of Man.”

One is reformed and one is orthodox, so that would be an interesting move.
