Just happened.

I assume that the "Eric/Derek" deal caused reasonable doubt.

I followed it closely with a class.

I would have a hard time voting 100% guilty. I think he's 90% guilty but there is enough doubt that by the law I could not vote guilty and sentence a man to die.

Without the first responders saying she said Eric or Derek did this and did not know the last name, I'd be closer, but not 100%.

Here is the verdict being read and the aftermath

That judge is a lot better man that I would have been in that situation.

Hold ON! Shitshow continues.

Judge just polled the jury and seven said Guilty. Deliberations will continue.

I guess it's up to Louisiana now. Hope you have better prosecutors than we do.

These idiot jurors don't know what the word unanimous means.

Judge told them to get back at it. I am worried about the public school system in McComb, MS.

Are you shitting me? WTF, this is the talent pool of jurors in MS. Even if it is not unanimous, the majority vote was guilty, why would they walk out and say Not Guilty. You would think if you are going to F it up, at least pick the majority vote.

I suppose him changing his story a hundred times had no bearing on anything? Those prosecutors must be world beaters

Ive never seen anything like this.

They pulled the jury from McComb/Pike County because of the local coverage in Panola County.

One juror was thrown off because he tweeted about it.
Now the rest of them apparently have no clue how this works.

Judge has to declare a mistrial IMO. The guy's life is on the line and these idiots don't know what the word majority or unanimous means!

That's not a verdict, then. That's a technical error. They go back in there.

Now Law News Network streamed the jurors names. IN A CAPITAL MURDER TRIAL. This has to be declared mistrial.

If I am defense I don't move for mistrial. Its either not guilty or the easiest appeal in history.

One article I read stated that the cops questioned 15 or 20 Erics / Dereks.

Odd IMO that the statement was allowed in given the physical even mental complications that the victim was suffering at the time.
