Back in (?)July, I drove a jeep from St Francisville to Bay St. Louis to deliver to a Gerry Lane customer. I didn't care for it, as I found the ride rough, and it got only 16 mpg on the highway during my 166 mile trip.

However, even if you don't mind the ride and mileage, do your research on the 3.6 liter V-6 engine. Recent years of this engine have had LOTS of reliability/maintenance issues.

In the end, buy what you like and want as after all, it's your money to spend how you choose. Before you do so, however, be fully aware of what your choice may entail. If you buy one, I hope you enjoy it and that it "pushes all the right buttons" when it comes to transportation and your expectations. If, though, your research raises questions, do you have a "Plan B"'vehicle?

I drove one and it felt riding on roller skates. Very squirrelly white knuckle drive. Would be fun in the woods but unsafe on the streets.

I once saw a woman hanging her bare left foot out the driver door at a red light before taking off. Do I even need to spell out the vehicle? Also betrayed the fact she was driving an automatic.

You are better off running from any vehicle made by Stellantis or one of its subsidiary names.

There isn't a better factory sock vehicle made to traverse extremely rugged trails than a Jeep Rubicon. Under the right driver the Rubicon would go down trails most people couldn't imagine driving safely. The rest of the vehicle is window dressing for the selectable locker equipped Dana 44's, sway bar disconnects, and 4:1 transfer case. The number of people who actually use the capabilities are probably fractions of a percent. If you don't have a need for selectable lockers on D44's and electronic sway bar disconnects with the ability to run 37" tires reliably with very little modification pretty much any other vehicle on the market is a better option than a Jeep.

Depends on how long you want to own it. They lose their luster after a while. There's always some litte problem like top leaking or something similar. Plus the ride isn't the greatest. Trust me I've had one for over a decade.

Jeep haters, why do you dislike them?

my wife's last car was a Jeep, she wanted to channel her inner 16 year old, she liked the hell out of it, so that's all that matters, I thought it was loud and uncomfortable and refused to take road trips in it, but she got her enjoyment from it

Would love some advice from some CJ owners on that and where to find the most reputable person to help with it.

I've owned a CJ7 for 20 years+. You better be rich or you better have some tools, not be scared to try to work on stuff, and some Google/YouTube skills or your CJ will be frustrating.

Even with all that, it can be a pain sometimes. Still awesome to drive on a beautiful day and ignore the waves from all the new Jeeps. I only wave at vintage.

So, despite absolutely no one caring, the Explorer ST (remember, we're trading in an old Explorer) may be a sleeper hit. Best acceleration of anything we tried.

Y'all delivered and are absolutely right about the full size Bronco. +1 to everyone who suggested it. The i-force max hybrid 4Runner just didn't have the pickup of the Wrangler or the Bronco. I'm a floor it at the on-ramp kind of driver, not a sit there at an on-ramp and wait for better days kind of driver.

No final decision yet, but the OT delivered. Much love. <3

Jeep owners, is this a good every day car? I plan to use whatever vehicle I get to commute to work 30-45 min, haul groceries weekly, and fishing rods to TB every few weekends.

I think they are made for lesbians. Not to worry as I am a lesbian trapped in a man's body but thats not what were talking about here...lol I joke

I think they are pretty cool looking, especially with a mild lift and decent AT tires. I would think they are decently made as some people do some pretty extreme offroading with them, some with just suspension and tires, many will go into the gearbox and install taller gears. If you like them, then go for it, if you change you're mind in a few years then just sell it and buy something different, then you might be stuck with a bunch of rubber ducks

If you had mentioned that in the OP nobody (sane) would have pointed you to a Wrangler unless it was a 392 but at that price you are just a step away from a BMW X5 M which is a proper fast SUV and can turn and stop too and only gives offroad and open air away to a Rubicon. The 392 is a vehicle driven near its limits on the road will be constantly trying to kill you.

The Bronco Raptor is the only option if you want something as quick as the ST in the Bronco line.

The ST is the best on-road "performance" SUV for the price. You can get a major jump in performance with the Euro brands but the price will be significantly more. A BMW X5 40i will be a much better performer but it will run at least $15k more the M version is in another world performance and price wise.
