They. Are. Turrible. Owned one for 6yrs. Don't buy anything Chrysler. The idea of owning a Wrangler is appealing but trust me, if this isn't just a "play around in" vehicle do not get one.

2 door Unlimited Wranglers look funny because they have a little more storage room. I'm going look at a Jeep this week. 98 model.

Your first mistake is buying a vehicle designed to be taken off road and modified and use it for long road trips. It's like buying a Mazda for pulling a horse trailer.

They're fine. Did a West Texas trip in my son's. No comfort issues at all.

Been on numerous trips up to 12 hours...

1) Love it.. but I've driven 4wd's all of my life and 2) I'm not a pussy that needs a 4wd to drive like a car.

It's a great vehicle.

Like I posted earlier....we drove over 10 hours each way for our roadtrip to Utah in the Rubicon and were comfortable.

Btw... I'm so bad about getting my vehicles washed though, thankfully a dirty Jeep is more acceptable

there are a lot of people who drive a long way with heavily modified jeeps to get to trails in places like Moab, Rubicon, the hammers, etc. not everyone trailers their jeeps to trailheads. There's also been a huge explosion in expedition style mods among jeepers where they are using them travel great distances and do mild trails. That's kind of the point of jeeps, IMO, use them and mod them to suit your needs. Rocks, mud, sand, pavement who gives a shite, if you want to do it, you can build it to suit.

As nurse said earlier, the resale is higher for jeeps than almost any other vehicle. Toyota Tacoma is one that comes to mind that gives jeep a run for their money in resale value. Obviously I'm excluding exotics and high enders in this statement

You can rent rigs there. Locked and lifted and setup for Moab. Best part is you aren't stranded if something breaks on the trail.

I have had 2 jeeps before this one.I just bought a 2013 unlimited Sahara ever option but leather nav and matching top. I drove 10 hours home in it. It made noise but not bad at all. I love the room in it.

As nurse said 2012-13 used ones are going to be as much as a new one. I wouldn't buy a 2007-11 bc that engine is way to weak.

I picked mine up for 30,300. If you are willing to travel to get one like I was you can find much better deals. Saved me 10k from one dealership here. And 4k from the other one here. Dealers are proud of them.

My husband is going to Moab sometime in April(NOT during Jeep Safari) with a buddy(mostly for mountainbiking). I'll try to convince him to do that instead of using his daily driver on the trails. How much luck you think I will have in him actually doing that?

If I'm going to MOAB I am tearing my own stuff up so I can come home and be proud of it.

It's like him going on a business trip and having a 3way with a prostitute. B wants you there so y'all will have that memory to share together when riding around town.

Ok, maybe not exactly the perfect analogy, but it works.

Yeah but his Rubi is still all stock stuff.

Course he's not stupid enough to try some crazy rock climbing type trail in it.

I'm on my phone with a dead battery. I have some pics with the axles ripped out and three wheeling. I'll be out of juice before I can get them posted.

I rented a rhino in moab. Ran poison spyder mesa on a stock rhino.

It's actually off limits for most rental companies there because idiots flip the Jeeps in the bowls.

Stock rhino, bottom to peak elevation and back down in under 30. First time on the slick rock. My buddy who was my guide (RIP Trace) was flat out amazed. No more difficult than driving through cypress knees in the swamp if you ask me. Just requires a little thought.

Also, while Utah has easy trails, most of moab is "crazy rock climbing trails" from what I saw. At least things that could easily damage a stock rig.

Although Jeeps are a little to heavy and thirsty for my tastes...they are one of the last 4wd vehgiles that can be bought and supplied with bolt on mods. I'm unsure of hoe the new ones drive, but in my zuke, there is no forgetting that you are in an offroad vehicle. Doesn't matter if we are in NYC or at the Grand Canyon, you are always 100% aware that you are driving something more at home in the woods.

They do make excellent city vehicles though.

So nimble...and potholes don't have to be avoided.
