Suspension is kinda rough stock but going with a lift like AEV that gives you better springs, bilstein shocks and correction brackets for the front control arms really makes a change that's night and day.

not mistaken.
I own an "X" unlimited, so yes they do/did make them
Just looked up the Rubicon x, it is a special edition off the rubicon, and recent to this year, it appears
They made the x as an unlimited, they changed x to sport. it sounded cooler

What now?
Rubicon's are just as creature friendly as the Saharas. They aren't sparse on the level of the X

mine hasnt become a trailer queen yet. Waiting to get a diesel 3/4 truck first. Then going back to full width, probably and changing out my entire rear link setup. not sure with what yet

Message Posted by AJF I think I like the bigger tires for some reason.
FWIW, you can buy rubicon tires and rims for fairly cheap second hand. The tires are really cheap because people remove them to upgrade with few miles.
The rims are a little more expensive because the the desirable size and backspacing.

You gonna get a diesel wrangler when they come out in 2016?

Never driven an unlimited, but I used to have a jeep wrangler. I am sure the experience will be the same.
I am from Georgia, so I made trips from LSU to Georgia all the time. It will be a bit louder than you are use to on the road. Also, had both a hardtop and softtop on my vehicle. There is barley any difference. I suggest the soft top just because not only is it easier to take the top down, but if you get caught in a summer storm and have a hard top, you're fricked (because you have to leave it at home).
Also, regardless of hardtop or soft top, they will leak at some point. Every convertible that isn't top of the line will.

I think you should pick a word other than rugged of you're talking creature comforts then (sparse was a good one). Rubicons are the most rugged of the line up.

I had a 06'Rubi, sold the tires and wheels for 1k, and they had 34k on them. most of that was because everyone wanted the wheels

like i said they don't make an X in the unlimited - guess i should have "anymore"
the unlimited X (X=10) is the same package as the rubicon 10ann. they received so many requests to continue the package that they had to come with another name. they couldn't very well use 10th anniversary for another year.
like i said the unlimited (LJ) i got my daughter seems to ride so much better but it's stock height and also makes me really miss the I6. it's just got so much more pickup than mine. of course i wouldn't trade my wheelbase for hers either.
to the OP- like was said before- 2012 or newer or 2006 or older when it comes to used jeeps.

are they officially going to sell it stateside in 16'? its been in production since 07', its a shame

Yeah, it is the only thing I prefer about my truck. And not even the regular long trips, it was just when the weather was bad. It was more annoying than anything.
But besides the long trips in bad weather, I loved that jeep.

Posted on 2/10/14 at 2:58 pm to lsunurse

I want one, unfortunately the move to NOLA has put the future of the current Jeep in question. Not going to have room for a third vehicle and not sure I want to make it an everyday vehicle.
Luckily I won't have to worry about gas mileage as much in the city.
