Once infection rates stabilize on a day to day basis and you finally have enough tests (which they are currently working on mass production on) to get more accurate figures to plug into your fatality rate you can get a better picture of how this virus plays out. If you look at the H1N1 the data pool is based on 780+ million cases and results in a very low mortality rate. The last i check on this virus and i know it changes by the hour so don't beat me up to bad if i'm off is around 300K cases that have been reported and the mortality rate is based on it. As of today its not a fair comparison between the flu and cornoavirus. You have alot larger data base backing your flu numbers and i'm hoping once we get that same data our fatality rates turn out to be even lower than the flu. But there's always that unknown factor in the meantime while we acquire that data and that's what is concerning the most.

I can't believe how dumb the people are on this board that are crying overreaction. Reminds me how the Italians still kept going out and about partying after the government started shutting down places. Now there are hundreds dying daily. Louisiana is a janky little state with a stupid population and poor public institutions. Cases are already soaring for a state with such a small population. Almost 300 cases after having 13 the start of last week.

We are learning about this shite for the first time..in a world where everyone demands knowledge in an instant.

What were the reports out of Italy about the young people who died last night?

Because they started testing, and the ones with symptoms get tested first. You’re a moron.

That's because people got their liberties and they will not let the government tell them what to do.

Because they started testing,

The media is totally neglecting this. Of course if you go looking for it you'll find more of it than you did when you weren't looking at all. Wheres the mounds of bodies? To expect that we as humans living as we do can control the spread of a highly contagious virus is laughable. Its been here for a while, millions have already had it, and it's no bigger a deal than H1N1. Should we shut down the world annually for that too? Because it hasnt gone anywhere, we have a vaccine for it, and it STILL kills lots of people annually. If people are going to wait for covid to go away to quit panicking, we might as well start training miles and building plows now. It isnt going away.

You’re shocked that people started registering as positive more often once we got more tests and rationed them to only testing people exhibiting the worst of symptoms and were in danger with an underlying illness that typically weakened immune systems?

Do you know how we got this country? By men not being pussies. Know how we're going to one day lose it? Men being pussies.

I'm shocked that a shitty little state like Louisiana with a small arse population has that many infected. Even with Mardi Gras being last months.

How are you shocked? It's an infectious virus that has been here for a while. To think it's just showing up concurrently with us just starting testing and simultaneously being highly contagious is asinine.

You’re shocked that over a million tourist flock to just New Orleans over a 2 week period on top of the 5 million people that already live in the state, plus other visitors, hunters and fisherman, come to Louisiana between Holloween and Mardi Gras? Do you have any idea how many people come though this city in those 5-6 months?
