You’re correct that they largely aren’t those in hospitals although they did unfortunately have a high school aged kid pass earlier this week, was very sad stuff. However the concern is that the kids could spread to the at risk folks.

Every Monday she has some kind of doom and gloom statement. This week she said she hopes the Jefferson Parish administration is ready to have double digit deaths on their hands. Then said she's glad she does not have the job of telling a parent their child died a preventable death.

I don't see why more testing of asymptomatic people is considered a bad thing here. Testing people without symptoms thus less likely to have it should drive the % positive down, which should lead to reopening.

How an ER doctor became an expert on pandemics is beyond me. We talk about it all the time in my administration meeting. She's a loony waaaaay left liberal. Her family has been known as that for a long time. Her husband is super connected in NOLA so I can only guess that's how she landed this gig.

Doctor I know (he doesn't work in a hospital but affiliated with one) said that their thought is they'll see a small (compared to the latest) spike after school starts but they're not expecting it to overwhelm.
