NBC News26 Article

quote:

BARRON, Wis. — Law enforcement officials Friday named 21-year-old Jake Thomas Patterson as the suspect in the abduction of 13-year-old Jayme Closs as well as the murder of her parents. Patterson, of Gordon, Wisconsin, is being held in jail on charges of 1st degree intentional homicide as well as one count of abduction.

The sheriff said Patterson does not have any criminal history locally or in the State of Wisconsin. The community of Gordon was "not on our radar," according to the sheriff. Closs was found in Douglas County Thursday night after a woman walking her dog discovered Closs and took her to a nearby home, where police were notified. Jayme was skinny and dirty, wearing shoes too big for her feet, but appeared outwardly OK when she was discovered Thursday afternoon near the small town of Gordon, the neighbors said.

So what's the deal in terms of how they found her? Did she escape his grasp and then run to the ladies house or what?

Sounds like he left the house and she somehow escaped. They found him driving about ten minutes after the police got to Closs.

I imagine similar to the end of Room.

He was out of the house and she escaped....ran from the cabin/home to a woman walking her dog. They went into the first house they saw and called police. She gave a description of the car

Ok thanks. I figured that was the case, but wasn't sure. The earlier reports just said she showed up at some lady's house and voila, the dude was arrested. So it appears it's more of a legit abduction than a plot to kill her parents.

100%. He took preemptive measures prior to the killings to hide his tracks. Her abdution was the reasoning. All they had right now. 4pm presser will have much more detail

Push a heated branding iron through his face until he's dead.

That’s what my wife and I were just talking about. I didn’t really follow this story when it broke back a few months ago so I don’t really have many details.

If I had to guess, I’d say he found her via something like instagram or Facebook. Maybe posed as a 13 yr. old kid and went from there. But that’s just speculation.

They have no prior connections via social networking. They are investigating Patterson’s ties to Barron, WI, which he does have some. They do not know if they’ve ever met in person yet or exchanged a text. Hoping to hear more about that at the 4pm CST press conference.

They are conducting the search warrant on his house and other cars this morning and a team of investigators are interviewing him and the girl (as delicate as they can). They haven’t found the murder weapon just yet either, hopefully it will turn up in the house/cabin

ETA: he has no prior run-ins with the law and they don’t know yet whether he has a history of mental illness (obviously he does now or he couldn’t have done that)

That is the scary part, if this guy never showed ANY indications....

Evil has to be thrown in there somewhere, as well.

Apparently he took extreme measures to ensure he left no footprints or fingerprints, but even if he had, they wouldn’t know who he was anyways. Also, they were not looking in or around gordon, Wi at all....no tips from there

Nope Bring him to my farm. We can tie his head to a tree with barbwire and let the hogs eat him.

Or like the indians supposedly did, stake him down on one of my giant ant hills. I have some that are about 18" tall in my pastures.
