Got called in for a few meetings at NAS next week and have 2 days total in town. I really don't have that much to do and have free rein on where to stay so I want to milk it and have some fun

Where to stay? Good bars? etc. TIA

As someone who used to live there my favorite sports bar was Mudville

It depends on where you are staying. Have you picked a spot?

ETA: I see you haven't picked a spot.

NAS is on the West side. IT's not really a place I'd stay.

The beach is a pretty good haul from NAS so I'd probably hit downtown. Omni, Hyatt, Crowne Plaza, Wyndahm, or Homewood.

From there, you can hit Riverside. there's a ton of new bars. I've been liking Dahlia's Pour House. Lots of beer selections there.

It would help to know what you are looking for and how upscale you like.

Also I stayed in a Wingate by Wyndham for a few days before I moved into my apartment there. It was the one by the airport. Nothing too fancy but it wasn't a dump.

I'd rather stay somewhere near the beach though, you'd have to pay a bit more but its closer to places of interest. That was my main problem staying by the airport, it was a bit out of the way.

Thanks, I will probably go this route... Wanted to do the beach but can't justify it

From downtown, you can hit the following pretty close for a quick brew.

San Marco area just across the River from Down town

Ardwolf
Locals - haven't been there yet
V pizza and the bar attached to it
Grape and Grain

If you want to venture to Riverside for a more eclectic vibe, let me know. That's just West of down town and a pretty easy cab ride. There are lots of choices there.

Calling Flboogie and a few others on here can help you out. He's the nightlife specialist around here . If you have a vechicle would recommend St. Augustine if you never been there though.

Once you pass a certain threshold there is no return.

Haters? The inventor of the strip mall made a killing in Jacksonville. I'm sorry if my opinion offends you.

Every city has strip malls. Jacksonville has a lot because it's the largest city, by square mileage, in the US. Jacksonville has several very cool areas/neighborhoods, but they're not necessarily right next to eachother. So yea, if you come to Jacksonville you're not just gonna stumble on to cool places, but there is an abundance of them.

You have 48 hrs?

You could take a hilarious convict out of jail and have him help you solve the cold-blooded murder of your partner.

By the time the 48 hrs is up, your extreme differences with the convict will be much more acceptable and you'll probably develop a newfound acceptance and respect for one another.
