It will never happen, but that is the perfect place for a major speedway.

With declining attendance at races and viewership on tv, I'm not so sure.

You're right though, it will never happen.

I think Jackson is having trouble maintaining their zoo which is open year round. Having two, maybe three races a year is not a money maker for the taxpayers.

You're kidding me right? NASCAR tracks have an economic impact of over $100 million to the local economies.

EDIT: Economic impact of Talledega for Alabama was $407 million in 2008.

Financially it doesn’t make sense to invest in NASCAR. Hell you have freaking Daytona removed 50,000 seats so it doesn’t look as empty. Bristol sold out every NASCAR race for 27 years until 2010. Along that same time, Richmond averaged 112,000 per race and are now lucky to pull 60,000. Asses aren’t in the seats anymore. But ever noticed how the tracks have started painting their seats different colors, doesn’t make the stands look as empty. NASCAR is on its deathbed unless it somehow gets a major overhaul.

You are arguing attendance figures. My points are based on real financial figures. Yes, all sports have suffered a decrease in attendance lately because of HD TV and ticket price increases, but NASCAR still makes a buttload of money and is a very significant financial injection for any state that they have a presence in.

Attendance figures and financial figures go hand in hand dumbass. Fewer people attending = smaller economic impact.

Jackson needs to focus on getting its 3rd world city trending upward first. How about start fixing fricking potholes first instead of worrying about a damn racetrack?

Building a NASCAR track is as fricking stupid as trying to build a dome stadium for JSU.

1. Build a 2.0 mike track
2. Make it a fast track
3. Develop condos with balconies overlooking the turns

WIN WIN WIN

Even if a track was built in Jackson, Baton Rouge would have a loop before the track hosted a NASCAR cup race.

There is no way in hell ISC or SMI give up a race. Neither are going to invest into a track in between Talladega and Texas.

Not saying I give a shite about Jackson, but you do realize that things like spectator event spaces generate revenue to pay for streets, right?

If that’s true, then why does New Orleans and Detroit have 3rd world streets? Shouldn’t all those NFL games and conventions have paid for streets?
