I've been dipping Copenhagen for 15+ years and finally came to the conclusion that I'm ready to give it up for good. I've tried to stop several times over the years but never was really ready to quit and ended up going right back to it. I was to the point when I would buy a can, I would tell myself this is my last can. This went on for two years. I've been without a dip for 5 days now and the cravings are diminishing. ... I do expect some of you negative Nancy types to down vote, telling me it's too late and the damage is done. You may be right but at least I did give it up and I can handle the negative comments.

The purpose of this post was to offer encouragement to those of you who are debating giving up the ole worm dirt. Do it! The first two days are the hardest. Just be strong minded. Mind over matter is what it really comes down to.

Now you can live longer, without a jaw.

The first 2 years are the toughest. After that it's almost manageable.

I just hit 3 weeks.

It gets easier and easier. First week was actually easy, week 2 sucked, back to easy now.

I quit 8 years ago. It's hardest when I'm hunting and fishing, or on a really long drive. You can do it though. It's only a habit, and habits can be broken.

Switch to gum or sunflower seeds for a while. Also don't buy it anymore.

Not being a jerk...that's how I quit. It was actually a lot easier than I thought.

I quit when my buddy got diagnosed with mouth cancer. Haven't touched it in over a year!

Best of luck to you!

I really had to get to the right state of mind first. Then just refused to buy it. I did buy a few cans of shredded beef jerky just to satisfy the habit of having a hook in. It sounds childish but it is working for me.

I quit December 10th cold turkey. I used to have to get my fianceé to go into the store and buy me beer because I couldn't look at the Copenhagen behind the counter. I don't think twice about it anymore. Congratulations! Just know that it gets much harder before it gets any easier. Your mind and body will thank you once it rids itself of that shite.

Yeah I've tried both those methods but I failed

Tried the fake dip

Tea bags

The patch

None of it has worked

I did switch to pouches. Hopefully that will add a few more mileages to my jaw

Agreed. I think it will be tough craving the dip when doing all of the above!

Walt I did some of the same alternatives as you over the years trying to wean myself off buy always ended up going right back. That's why I say you gotta be mentally ready to give it up. I believe in ya man, give it up for you!

I started the 4mg nicotine gum and hat helped. I still go buy a pack of gum from time to time when i get cravings. It's only $20 for a massive box of the 4mg pieces at Walmart
