It will be even cooler when it lands on Mars. This is the coolest/dumbest thing mankind has done since the Apollo Astronauts played golf on the moon.

He is a real dreamer with enough money to achieve most any dream! Kudos to the coolness of the successful launch!

Pretty much. It was a systems test and they needed kg to test it with. It could have been anything, they chose a car. Whatever it was they didn’t want be too important because the risk of loss was high.

Was just typing the same thing, with Space X Musk is doing nothing different than any other aerospace/ defense contractor whose primary customer is the U.S. government.
As for over promise and under deliver, that is not much different than, "behind schedule and over budget" which has been the mantra of every aerospace/defense contractor ever.

I honestly don't know a lot about Musk. Just have been too lazy to find out.
But he knows how to sell/market:
1) downplays the chances of success** of the Falcon Heavy Rocket, claims it may not quite be ready... so gets more eyeballs for launch, many tuning in for a spacey-rocket-NASCAR crash that takes out a historic launch-pad
2) if sales of cherry red Teslas don't spike, I'll be shocked
