You probably didn't graduate high school and have decided not to call a medical doctor "doctor".

Aggies are a weird bunch.

Can you clarify what you mean by "the payer"?

Whoever pays the bills, ie. insurance.

They staff and have clinicians as well capable of managing drug interaction for many patients.

Obviously, for those wanting to use cash and not their benefits to cover their prescription drugs their method would be different.

Which do not take a private PCP in a brick & mortar clinic to manage

I'm a lawyer. I give them the courtesy upon introduction and in front of others, then just speak to them by name when we're alone.

So insurance should be in charge of delivering care?

Well, insurance controls access to care for most of the country. It shouldn’t be that way, but it is that way.

This is what I was responding to:

those kinds of things can be done and directly provided by the payer
Indicating that insurance should be directly providing services.

Doctors do around 11-12 years of education after high school, lol. That’s more than anyone, lol.

Good point. But try 12-14, on average, these days..

What's silly is calling people who are NOT physicians "doctor," e.g. college professors, etc.

I'm not reading 7+ pages to see if this has already been posted.

Any non-medical 'doctor' who demands to be addressed by that title should be ignored.

In a teaching environment it may be ok.

When I first started to LSU back in '56 my first class was an algebra class where the professor was the author of the textbook.

Someone in class asked if we should refer to him as "doctor"

His response was simple but has stayed with me a long time --

> I know of no man who should feel insulted to be called "Mister" <

Every doctor you see utterly hates you but is just nice to you to your face because medicine has become the customer fricking service industry . I would, politely, correct your little entitled arse when you tried to first name me and if you didn’t like it then you could find medical care somewhere else. Growing up I would NEVER first name my doctor. Who raised you? If it was the same person who taught you grammar then it doesn’t surprise me

Not a big fan of going to the Dr. either, even though I’m in the medical business.
But if you’re over 40, I’d highly advise it.

You baws don’t want to find out you have prostate cancer when it’s advanced enough to cause symptoms because that’s a really different ballgame. My urologist caught mine early. My primary care did not.
