We are 6-1 so far this season and parents are already up in arms about the batting order, positions and playing time … LOL

95% of rec leagues end after 12 so kind of have to play travel at that point.
What you seemingly cant grasp is it doesn’t have to be this way and wasn’t until really recently. The rest of your post is pointless to respond to because you can’t understand that.
And yes, kids can absolutely keep up without personal hitting and pitching lessons. Most big leaguers do exactly that until they’re 15 or so because they’re the best athletes at everything and play multiple sports.
Does all that shite help a small percentage of fringe players get to the next level? Sure, but the costs outweigh the benefits for the total population, and that’s not up for debate

but by and large....baseball has mainly been a higher socio economic sport. always. and i am kind of glad....i dont want to spend my time around a bunch of trashy fricks either or hear people whining about cost and money
I remember picking up a kid named Kenny on my basketball team every day for practices and games from a shitty apartment complex. Looking back on it, he was so fricking giddy to always know he would be able to make it and get to play.
Looking back on it, it’s one of my favorite memories of youth sports, my parents made sure he made it to EVERYTHING, post game pizza, after season party, etc. Probably the best thing that had ever happened to that kid.
But we aren’t pieces of shite, so congrats

post a message that this coming weekend, batting order will be determined by mother's tittays rankings.

as far as how many are left behind...maybe but i think its more what deion said in that baseball is a game of patience and a game where you cant just out athlete people...that why you see less Black Americans playing. im 42....growing up, after 12...didnt have a single AA playing in our league where the HS was 35% black. So how is it different?
Even HBCUs have white players on their baseball teams now. Don’t see any white players on their basketball teams though.

I've said this all along, and I've been removed from it for a long time, but it sounds like cliques have been formed to keep talented kids out if they weren't part of the cult, dads got to get some ROI
So many act like its impossible to be good at baseball unless you play travel ball starting at Age 6
I never played travel ball - my family couldn't afford it - yet my dad played minor league baseball and was able to give me at home instruction and I more than held my own in high school vs the travel ball kids where their dads would bitch to the coaches about how I would get playing time over their own kid who played select for years. I originally went to TCU to play baseball before switching to football and Schlossnagle asked me which travel team I played for and I told him I didn't which surprised him but then he said he has had a lot of players in his time who played 3 sports in high school and just didn't have the time
Baseball is a sport where if you have natural talent you will find a way and it doesn't matter the caliber of competition you play with or against

My son prefers to swing his LS power select than his Fire. In fact Will stated that two piece hybrid USSSA would be his preferred bat for kids. Issue is that there is only a handful of options and not all are produced/updated annually.

Meanwhile one of my friends never played travel and got a scholarship to Dallas Baptist. It's almost like if you are good you will be found regardless of whether or not you play travel ball.
its not really like that anymore. When i grew up, you played rec, then HS and legion if you wanted to in the summer
now its not like that.....very very slim chance you are making a really good HS team without playing travel and 95%+ of rec leagues now end at 12 anyways so have to play travel at 13/14.
on top of that...you better be at HS that has connections or you better be playing for a good travel team in HS. and most HS require you to play travel in some form or fashion.

It’s been this way forever and will be this way forever.

It’s very slim you have that level of talent, that’s what you can’t seem to grasp. The best players are always going to be the best players. And your kids aren’t going to catch them, no matter how many lessons you pay for

that's another thing I've said, some of the best athletes in our school, and others, dropped out of playing when they got to high school because they had to find jobs to help out their families and even if they couldn't find work they couldn't get a ride home from practice every night, or to summer practices and games

Sadly this is the case at the high school I went to. The jackass coach (who was my coach and is still there) forces you to only play baseball - if you want to play football or basketball tough shite, you wont be allowed to play on his baseball team - he does this because he wants the guys playing baseball year round for travel teams in the fall instead of football.
He tried to pull this same shite when I was there, but it would have gotten rid of all the good players since pretty much all the good players also played football.

With all due respect, if my/your kid got to fish the ponds Bill Dance got to fish I’d be a little disappointed if they couldn’t make a career out of it. Just sayin

nope, every single player that was drafted the last couple years played travel

my parents did the same...i still do that in football and basketball and did for rec baseball, which i coached for 8 years. my oldest only played travel 1 year cause it wasnt for him. i volunteered for years upon years and was treated like shite because of it...so excuse me if i dont want to be around those types of people if i dont have to.

pretty much the way it was when I was in hs, most all of the good athletes played the big three, some even did track as well, there were some that "specialized"

At TCU we would play pick up baseball games in the summertime and it was ridiculous how many of my football teammates who never played baseball were able to just pick it up and automatically be good at it like it was nothing. Makes me wonder how many of them could have become something at baseball if it were more accessible as a youth to them. Athletic ability trascends sports

We also have our first tournament this weekend, honestly not looking forward to it. Thankfully it’s 10 minutes from the house so I’m good
