now with so many teams that is rare

might go to tenn or NC for a world series but pretty rare

you will see teams fly in to houston for next weekends but houston 1000 nit, see them fly in for beast of the east, PG invitational, tournaments at east cobb but not every team goes

only tournament in the state that has those kinds of things happening is the first super regional for PG in baton rouge. 2d super nit in ruston will have teams from 5 states but most are actually close

only majors teams travel for the most part with some high level aaa. but there is some kind of tournament between houston and BR every weekend for every age group and every classification.

99% of kids will never go to a tournament outside of 100 miles except a world series and even then prolly 75% will not even do that.

Did it for the 6 or so years before high school softball. Tons of great memories, tons of sad days, stupid amount of money spent, but I don’t regret a second.

Was it too much at times? Yes and I went overboard and regret some ways I acted toward daughter and wife. I was stupid.

At the end of the day I would still let her play as she learned so many life lessons from the game. Ending Jr year with MCL sprain and then no Senior year due to torn ACL will teach you how life isn’t fair and you have to keep things in perspective.

I coach a select tee ball team. Tournaments pay us not to come so we don’t embarrass the other teams and I don’t bang the tourney hosts wives.

We played last weekend and let me tell you these girls showed up and showed out! Despite getting screwed by the umps in pool play TWICE and gettin last place in pool play. First time my Paisleigh Kate has EVER been in last placed in pool play since she was in 4U! She was so embarrassed!! But let me tell you it lit a fire in her tail and as well as the other girls too. Coach Chad had them be at the park at 4:45am for batting practice and we was ALL ok with it!! And the proof was in the results. We come out there a whipped that #1 seed (want say there name cause they all cheat) but I'm sure yall can figure it out LMBO!! But we sent them packing and won the next 2 and made it all the way to the championship game at midnight. Unfortunately we got the SAME umps as we had in pool play and it didn't work out way but man I'm so proud of these girls and the way they fought!! When the cops was pullin Coach Chad off the field he told them how proud he was of them and two not let those umps ruin there love for the game and let me tell you it didn't. My PK is more determined then EVER! Can't wait for Dallas's next weekend!

i try as much as possible....

my kids are really good kids man and they tell me thank you and how much they appreciate everything all the time and make straight A's and just overall much better people that I ever was and way better kids than I honestly deserve

I have a long time to go, but i try and remember the days are long but the years are fast

i will miss time hitting with them...just the two of us. them asking what they need to improve and just the work together.

but its their life and if they decide, like my oldest did, other sports are more fun and they would rather pursue those...thats ok too. baseball aint an easy sport and it takes insane amount of work to be able to compete at the highest levels and at the big HS programs.

i will support them no matter their interest. I take them fishing and they go hunting with my dad couple times a year(which they dont like) and we take tons of vacations all over that have nothing to do with baseball or sports at all. Just so happens its their love.

unfortunately my middle kid gave up all other sports despite being a stud football player because all he wants to do is play baseball or practice daily. its annoying but this is the same kid that sets an alarm to get up 30 min early every day pretty much to go get extra reps off the tee so cant be too upset.

but yea i try to just enjoy the ride. much easier now that i been in it a couple years.

You are correct.

Just within 75 miles of New Orleans you have PG, USSSA, OTC, UACS and 2D running multiple tournaments each weekemd at 50 different venues. Many are friendly, smaller venues.. Unless you are a Major team that CHOOSES to seek more competeition the need to travel is on the parents and not travel ball.

Yeah it must be different for the dude claiming they don't have to go more than 2 hrs in LA.

When I did it, our closest trips were just under 2 hrs to Atlanta suburbs. Like you, we were living in Gatlinburg, PCB, Daphne, Biloxi, etc. It was just an immense time sink just to get to and from the tournaments.

Well sometimes majors aren’t allowed to play in the other tournaments because it’s aaa only and to play up would change all the distances which can mess with arms early in the season

And if you want to play competitive teams, may have to depending on what part of the state you live but still no more than 2 hours absolutely max

My friend’s wife blew all the dads on the team. He forgave them though, because their wives blew him that night. Big swinger community in travel ball.

For boys Houston to Nola and even mobile is packed with really good teams.

Houston has a majors tournament every weekend and BR about every other.

If you are only playing 10-11 tournaments in the spring, no need to travel unless you just want to. Atleast in south la

90% of teams in Lc don’t travel further than laffy or Beaumont. 90% of BR or Nola teams travel no further than those cities. No need to
