I remember my brother playing Dixie into his 18 year old year, those all star teams were comprised of about 50% of kids going on to play college ball the next year.
Have no clue if American legion ball is even still around but remember guys who were solid players doing that. A lot of those guys were college bound players. But this was years and years ago.

Yet here I am for another round of it
Yeah, you’d think Braxton would be in the majors by now

Most teams are like that and only play 1 or maybe 2 tournaments on the fall and most kids play other sports…at least in Louisiana

PG at Traction and 2D Select stories have a dozen tournaments in the BR area with huge competition. The Wildcatters from Texas were at the PG NIT last year and there is no better program
I know my son plays those but you still have to travel 2 hours at times depending on where you live
As far as wildcatters, overall prolly best org but there are teams in each age group that are as good or better

Even 15 years ago, it was about 20 regular season games, a tournament and then all stars so 30ish games per summer for the better players. That’s more than enough for kids 13 and under
They will play roughly 30 games for their under 13 teams. Average travel per game is about 20 miles max
So, maybe you should look that up before coming in here thinking you know what you are talking about
Because they are doing exactly what you claim it “should be” yet you are bitching anyway

Depends on which one, cenla teams will play 40 in spring, plus 2 fall tournaments
Mandeville teams a little less but both end up over 50
If you play select series and the 2 BR nit plus the 2d nit almost automatically get to that
But that’s every other weekend march-mah and then 1 in Feb, 2 in June
Not that much when you think about it. Certainly not over whelming

6 tournaments. On average that will be 5 games.

Maybe your team but last year the 11u team played 43 in the spring plus the 2 in the fall they played
I didn’t pull it out my arse, I went and looked. Cannizzaro team plays less I know that
Cenla 11u played 49 in spring last year
Their majors teams are always around that, 40-50 in spring, plus 2 fall

That’s fine, that’s not how the majority of teams operate.

Also to the dual sport thing, I can’t think of more than 1 player that only plays baseball either for the Knights team I’m thinking of
The issue is we have people like Mingo who are older without kids that hear travel ball and think everyone is playing travel ball how it was when we are kids
It is nothing like that

It’s not as bad until they’re about 12, but you have parents of 12 year olds (and people influencing them) going all in on one sport because they’re the first one to go through puberty.
I have the best interest of the kids in mind, but enjoy your overpriced fake “World Series” ring

Brother, I played in the system for years and then helped coach kids as an adult

The majority of “travel” teams are simply people that got fed up with how terrible rec ball is now and they started their own operation so their kids weren’t playing in glorified baby sitting

Rex ball is so bad now it’s made travel ball morph rapidly. It’s not how it was when we played

Preach
And look by the time they are 12 they are old enough to know what sports they like. Some don’t like tackle football and some don’t like basketball
And in hs basketball overlaps with football
Some kids only like one sport and would rather do other things than play other organized sports
Your 2nd comment is spot on. It cracks me up the ot thinking everyone in LA is playing year around with no break and playing every weekend etc when it’s not even close to the truth…..
It’s people who played years upon years ago or those that hated sports that say much of the stuff on here. Minho hasn’t been bad though. I think he is not up to date and wants things to go backwards when that’s not gonna happen. But he has been one of the same ones

I’ll ask mingo
You have an 8 year old who loves sports and is athletic
You can do rec ball, where he practices once a week with :
3 kids that care and are athletic ish
2 autistic kids
2 kids that wear jeans to practice
4 kids that pay attention but can’t run without falling over
You play two games a week every week for about 20 games total
Or
You do travel ball, where he practices twice a week now with
10 other kids that all care and are at his level
You play 3-5 games some weeks, zero games other weeks, for about 30 games total
I put all my faith in someone as smart as you so please make the decision for me

lol ok bud. Go find one player on any of the top 10 hs teams that didn’t play travel.
Keep living in fairytale land

Going to Cooperstown 1st week of June. Costs more than my first year at LSU.

I don’t think people understand how bad rec got and
If a team plays 10 games in the fall, 8-10 tournaments in the spring…that’s not that much and that is what 99% of travel teams in LA play
