It's a money racket, every dumbass parent trying to keep up with the Jones 's.

Thanks social media.

Massive waste of time and money.

I understand. My premise is it doesn’t have to and shouldn’t have to be that way

Going to Cooperstown 1st week of June. Costs more than my first year at LSU.

So are we but I didn’t have to pay luckily. Only get one chance to play there and its memories that will last a lifetime

Then don’t play and don’t concern yourself how others spend their money but also

Don’t whine when your kid can’t make the HS team either

I agree. But it is

So most parents that have kids in it don’t think Braxton is going to be pro, they just actually love Braxton and aren’t going to waste anyone’s time with modern rec ball

And probably never going back. I get it.

But it’s seemingly a pretty easy change. Everyone just signs back up for rec. I, of course, understand that’s not going to happen. It’s like a million other things where the cat is out of the bag. But it’s bad for the kids and bad for the game.

playing travel ball year around has nothing to do on whether your kid makes the team or not. Are you good enough to help? You make the roster, if not? You're cut. Real coaches don't give the first shite if a kid plays travel ball or rec ball.

The last year I cos ch ed rec…had multiple kids at 11-12 age that literally never caught a ball before, didn’t know how to throw etc…best pitchers throwing 50ish and playing by those terrible little league rules and field size…huge waste of time for kids that want a chance to play in hs. My oldest had fun playing with friends but baseball ain’t his sport

How is it bad for the game and kids if you aren’t over doing it? Kids still play other sports

If done right it’s way better system

But it’s real simple for those that don’t like it…take a stand and never participate then you don’t have to whine about it

wtf ever. If you got the money honey, any kid can play travel ball.

I coached high school for five years, not one time did i ask any of them if they played travel ball when they tried out. Again, can you help this team or can't you. Most played other sports and more often than not, they were the better ones.

It hasn’t really done anything but make the game less accessible and more expensive

As I said, for 13-15 year olds, I think it’s fine.

It’s certainly not that simple.

Umm why the frick do yall think travel kids don’t play other sports? Where the frick did this myth come from?

And if you don’t think the best kids are playing travel..don’t know what to tell you. And yea anyone can go beat on a AA team, I’m not talking low level travel after age 12, I’m talking the actual kids that can play

Sounds like the parent of a South Lake Charles kid trying to keep Mid-City out of the tournament.

Cecchini already bought houses in Graywood for the parents of the two best little league players in Mid-City, Moss Bluff, Westlake, and Sulphur. Not to mention the sweet plant operator jobs that he got for the dad’s of those two kids from the Dominican.

Don’t shame the rest of us for panhandling at Walmart for tournament entry fees.

Well if rec is the best way…shouldn’t the kids that play that pass up the travel kids?

quote:

So you want the 8 years olds that can hit the ball 175 and throw 45 playing with kids that can’t catch and just pick flowers all day? Do you really think that is going to help them? Or is it the 8 practices and 12 games then putting the ball down for 8 months that helps them advance their skills?

Or do you want the 10 years olds that throw 60-65 playing with the 9 year olds who have never played before that you think helps grow skills?

quote:

It’s certainly not that simple.

If you you think the old way of rec ball is so great and is the better way, boycott travel, play rec and join travel at 13. I’m sure your kid will have zero trouble making a very high level travel team that will prepare him hs ball.

I’m sure he will be able to handle the jump in pitching speed from mid 50s to mid 70s all while making a huge jump in field size, full baseball rules etc. I’m sure the kids that have been seeing that and playing on bigger fields with real baseball rules certainly will not have a leg up on him…cause you know, you either have it or you don’t…right?

And yea I’m being a smart arse and honestly not even meaning it to you as you have been very chill about your argument and it certainly has merit. And I 1000% think your heart is in the right place for sure.

As much as we like to frick with each other I actually do think your opinion is sound on this, I’m being a smart arse to show why it’s not that simple

Now I will agree if you are 12u playing AA ball…stop and go play rec. now if you only play local…ok fine but in general unless you legit have a chance to make the hs team in two years or you are willing to commit to making up ground with extreme amounts of time spent practicing…go play rec, dominate and have fun.
