Developing methods to spot archetypes, abuse, characteristics, markers, etc. of children to start treatment early (which is pretty universal in treatment effects.
It's the same with all pathologies. Study what they are, who is affected, how to identify likely victims of the pathology, and how to fix it.
Why there is such a resistance to working on treatments (up to potential cures) is always a weird thing. People would rather have pedos roam the earth rather than help society fix the problem. It boggles the mind.

Depends on the state, but usually it's a form of solicitation of a minor.

I already mentioned a way it can be fixed.
Since you think there is a cure for this, you must also be OK with parents trying to turn their gay kids straight, y'know since sexualities are apparently pliable

There's a good, realistic movie about this topic called The Woodsman with Kevin Bacon. Actually a very good movie if I remember correctly. He is what you guys are calling a non- offender.

It’s weird as hell to watch, but I don’t understand how it can be illegal.
And once you make virtual child porn illegal, how are you going to determine whether a picture looks like it’s of a fictional 18 year old or a fictional 17 year old? Yeah, this particular guy seems like he was watching porn of fictional 6 year olds, but once you outlaw virtual porn of anybody under 18 then you’re eventually going to run into the issue of whether a porn picture looks like it’s of a fictional underage girl. In child porn cases with real human victims, the victim’s age can be attested through their birth certificate. But these virtual child porn figures are not going to have birth certificates that show their age.
