You must either 1) not travel much or 2) travel like a peasant and go through regular security screening.

Biometric screening is old news bro.

You know those people who blow through security using CLEAR check? Yeah…that’s biometric and it’s all over the country already.

quote:

What is the CLEAR airport security program? In short, CLEAR uses your biometrics — either your eyes, face or fingerprint — to verify your identity, replacing the need for a TSA officer to manually check your passport or photo ID.

Highly doubtful.

Absolutely true. I'm on a team working on this to be in compliance. Yes, it was delayed for a few years but it's 100% coming and within the next 3 years.

I think the point was Clear is voluntary now. Miami is going to make this technology the standard for all passengers.

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/03/09/2019-24343/twic-reader-requirements-delay-of-effective-date

I mean I'm was on a project where this was being implemented at a Twic facility. Its been delayed until 2023 but here it is

quote:

. The TWIC reader rule changed this requirement for a subset of high-risk MTSA-regulated facilities (called “Risk Group A facilities”), requiring that they conduct an “electronic TWIC inspection” before allowing access to secure areas. This involves electronic authentication using the TWIC card's Card Holder Unique Identifier (CHUID), validating that the credential has not been revoked by comparing it to a TSA-maintained canceled card list, and verifying a person's biometric (e.g., fingerprint) to the biometric template stored on the card's chip. Because electronic TWIC inspection requires either purchasing TWIC readers, integration into an existing physical access control system (PACS), or other solutions, and electronic inspection may take longer than visually inspecting the card, the TWIC reader rule applied the electronic TWIC inspection requirement only to a high-risk subset of MTSA vessels and facilities.

not a chance in hell. People can’t figure out how a paper boarding pass works after all these years. Most can’t even figure out how the app works. This will have to be optional and for convenience.

You would be wrong, it's already coming. Our site has already begun installing all the fiber cables and scanners.

Which is why the government is here to "help" you. All you do is stand there. Your face gets scanned and if all your papers are in order, you're good to go.

You said all TWIC work sites.

That would not be all TWIC worksites as I read it.

Probably would include LOOP. Probably would not include several deepwater facilities that have integrated TWIC as part of their safety plan because it was much simpler (and cheaper) to implement than many other.

But I may be misreading it.

It was being implemented at one of the refineries I was at it did say in the write up it was for higher risk facilities admittedly I don't know what constitutes that higher risk

Boarded this way in Dallas last week.

No ticket necessary, just walk past the camera.

We just put in the readers at the heliport I fly out of. Our facility is considered a high risk facility by definition, which is related to BOEG for offshore production facilities.

I'm probably just in denial that we will have to have one more thing we have to deal with
