In the US, some of the largest costs to doing business is fuel. That’s fuel for transportation, electricity, heating, plastic feed stocks and any other number of things. Cheap fuel means cheaper products. Cheaper products means more commerce.

The shutdown in China will have a noticeable impact at the pumps because all travel is being curtailed. It wouldn't surprise me to see it hit the $40 a barrel mark by Feb 10th.

I already said it’s bad for one sector of the economy (upstream O&G companies and support entities) but better for almost everyone else.

aim high I used to have some dealings in the O&G bidness, haven't kept up recently but when I did the reason that diesel prices remained relatively high is because of the demands of the military, almost everything operated requires some derivative of diesel fuel

I'm an artist by trade, it's not my field and I may be mistaken, but isn't diesel a by-product of gas production? which would mean it would have to be a demand-based pricing system?

Diesel is an end product of crude oil processing.

What a poster above said might make some sense in regards to the entire military running on diesel, I just don’t know how much market they represent and, therefore, control/impact prices.
