Last year or year before we had rain every day for June and it made life really nice. Seems like as a kid In early 80s it rained just about every summer afternoon. Just don’t remember heat like this. My grandparents didn’t even have AC except a window unit for only when company came over.

July/August in the Deep South is the horrible, your options are stay in water or stay inside.

We have a way of forgetting the particulars when it comes to the uncomfortable aspects of life. Weather is no exception. It doesn't help that everything is "unprecedented" when it comes to news coverage of the weather these days.

It’s because the dew point has been in the high 70s the last few weeks. I can’t recall ever seeing it this high for so long. Usually when the humidity is high the dew point sticks around low 70s during the summer, esp in the mornings which is why we get that “sticky” feeling. Humidity has actually pretty mild for SE Louisiana around 60% for this time of year, but bc it’s high dew point it is a dryer heat.

What? That’s not really how dew point vs. humidity works..

Right now in BR, my weather app says it’s 97degF with 50% humidity and 75degF dew point. If it were 85 degrees outside with the same dew point, humidity would be 72%.

Relative humidity is only low right now because it’s so fricking hot. But whether it’s 97 F at 50% humidity or 85 F at 72% humidity, the actual amount of water vapor in the air (which determines the dew point) is the same.

The heat sucks so bad. I wish I could convince everyone in my life to leave the south at the same time but it’s a tough nut to crack. Made some headway when the tornado carved through the middle of the city a couple months ago.

I just looked at my Rainmeter setup, I don't see dewpoint but my temp is 98, humidity 50%, feels like 114. That shite is brutal.

A few places in the NOLA area hit 100° today. That'll be good enough for a new daily record.
