vertical temperature profile. temperatures are decreasing rapidly as you go up in the atmosphere where you are currently so the sleet doesnt have enough real estate to melt completely before reaching the ground.

Extreme weather events are becoming more common in this let of the world relative to recorded weather history. The reason as to why is up for debate.

In 2002 it snowed in The Baton Rouge area and it was in the upper 30s maybe even pushing 40

Sorry it was 2002 because we were watching LSU vs Illinois in the Sugar Bowl
