Are you saying that hearing 17000 Hz isn't good enough to hear this supposed other noise that is in there?
I know, it must be a shock, bro. One day when you least expect it, you’ll probably hear yanny from someone randomly playing the video and freak tf out.

Why? The source audio is from a definition page for Laurel...

Because some people hear the word Laurel as yanny.

I fully understand that it is audio of the word laurel. The part you quoted of my post (i.e. your response) completely ignores the point being made.

There is no point to be made.

It's the word Laurel. If you hear anything else, you might have hearing problems.

I think you have made your point.

People clearly can hear Yanny or else this wouldn't be a thing.

By the way, I played it for my wife on Reddit and she heard Yanny and couldn't hear Laurel at all. then I played the one on vocab.com that you linked and she could hear Laurel from then on. I didn't tell her I switched the recording either.

It's an interesting phenomenon.

You keep saying that as if it's actually important.

I heard it played with different frequencies. I heard laurel twice and yanny once.

That's because your ears are working properly.

What frequency does it need to be played at for "functioning" ears to hear yanny?

I only heard "yanny" when I put the slide bar in the OP all the way to the right

and even then it sounded more like "gary" to me

If I record myself saying car and you hear doorknob, it doesn't matter that I didn't record the word doorknob? What?

Yeah, this idea cracks me up.

If your hearing was so good that you could hear all of these high frequencies that others cannot hear, you'd probably go to the ENT thinking you were crazy.
