It comes from the term good old boy. Good old boy became good old baw.

it was a person that was a bit of a redneck, but they had the skills to be able to take care of themselves.

Now the term is used with way to broad of brush for almost any sort of white trash type of person.

leave it to suburban white kids to take a term of endearment and convert it to a signature of disdain.

Well shite. All this time, I thought it was short for "boss." For example, "What's up, boss" became "What's up, baw."

Welcome to the Internet; it's our Horadric Cube for names, labels and designations. Just wait a little longer, the term is not yet completed its transformations.

its a lame attempt at being cute or funny by immature dipshits here. its a stupid fricking term that has been driven into the ground by over usage.
It wasn't cute or funny when it was used the first thousand times here. and it aint getting any better.

I think the popularity of baw can be credited to my baw BawRGetTheNet. He persisted calling baws baw on this site despite lots of blow back from non-baws and Chads. In the end he ended up converting even the most adamant non-bawers over to the baw side. It’s not that baws fault that baw is now being bastardized and you have non-baws being called baw. Imho
