Beyond the intense physical demands, Marine Corps boot camp is ingeniously designed to remove the “me” from you and replace it with “we”, instilling a strong ethic of team work and unwavering commitment to your fellow Marines.
It’s an accomplishment few achieve and you’ll never hear anyone who’s made it through say “that was easy.” We all have our boot camp stories and never forget them.
Your son is now part of an exclusive group of men with lessons learned that will guide him for the rest of his life. My time was over 50 years ago and I remember it as if yesterday. All Marine’s are the same.
You have every reason to be proud of your son’s achievement. The transformation is remarkable.
The few.
The proud.
The Marines.
Semper FI & Congratulations.

Going into the military right out high school was the best decision I every made. I became a man and it gave me the direction to start a course for my future and made me the successful person I am today. Congats 33 you sound like a very proud papa.

Congratulations. One of my coworkers is there today to see her son graduate. She could not be more proud. Well deserved.

I get the grand opportunity to watch a young man walk across that hallowed stage in the morning as a United States Marine
I'll never forget the day my family picked me up from Parris Island... It meant the world having them there.. Get your son a beer and a fat steak.

Congrats to both of you. I regret not joining the Corp when my cousin joined. Chose College instead.

Nephew graduated from VMI, then OCS, commissioning as an 0302 infantry officer.
Fourteen years later he is a Major and commands up to 2,000 men in combat (though usually half that). We couldn't be prouder (though we worry a lot lol).
Congratulations to your fine young man, he has earned something no one can ever take away from him, he is a Marine.
And congrats to you and yours, because anyone who knows understands the family sacrifice that goes into this accomplishment.
Semper fi, and welcome to the club friend.

my direct report at work adopted 3 kinds from the Ukraine probly 20 years ago, and his son graduated from High School and told them he wanted to join the Marines.
he said he wanted to serve the country that gave him and his siblings a secure, stable place to live.
he is currently in training now
