Needed to get tires for our 2012 Acadia. My wife's friend recommended a place she uses and said they have good prices when she mentioned that we needed new tires. I usually go to either Moores Goodyear or Gateway. Called the place her friend rec'd and they said it was 603.00 after mounting, balancing and tax. This was about 200.00 cheaper than Gateway. I get there and the guy tells me he has some Vercelli's made by Kelly-Springfield in the size I need and that's what he will put on. They start changing out my old to the new and I look at the Vercelli's and there is no trace that they are made by Kelly. I look them.up on Google and there's no connection to Kelly Tires. So then I'm thinking, F this, I don't want some shitty tires I've never heard of for my wife driving my 3 yr old and 12 yr old around. I tell the guy I don't want them and to put my old tires back on and I will go somewhere else. He says fine but I am gonna have to pay him for labor. I'm thinking of my options that if I act an arse I'm gonna end up with no tires back on my vehicle and putting all 4 back on myself which I don't want to do. If I pay the "labor charge", I get out of there and can dispute the charge with my credit card company and more than likely get refunded. Which is what I did. Is there a different way anyone else would have handled this short of gunfire?

You were purposefully misled and then PAID the guy that misled you?

Did you sit in the corner while he fricked your wife, too?

When you called you should have asked what tires they were.

You bought the car just because it was called "Acadia," didn't you?

There's the first red flag. This is all your fault IMO

Don't be a cheap arse

Oh, so now you care about quality?

I'm your wife's friend.

We're banging.

I'm also the guy who runs the tire shop. Thanks for your bidness.

You went to that 3 ring circus off of north market didn't you????

That place reminds me of the guys on you don't mess with the Zohan. "It's Sony guts"

I wouldn't even buy trailer tires from that place

What would I do?

Go to Costco, get Michelins(on my wife's Jeep) or Continentals(my RR), and be done with it. Cheap tires are stupid.

They ripped that off from an old Tom Hanks skit on SNL.

Sam's Club is far and away the best place to buy tires.

Clever. How would you suggest I get them to put my tires back on?

So it's ok for him to lie about what kind of tires he is gonna put on but I'm wrong for disputing a charge when I was mislead? if he would have been straight forward about the tires, I would never have gone through with his people changing them out. Yes, I was trying to save some money, I won't deny that.

You should go back and ask for the Maypops.

Yes I would have looked the tires up before I agreed to pay for him to put them on. You not paying for his labor is a dick move on your part.

You did it wrong

Step 1) Determine the tire you want

Step 2) shop the tire you want

So, I wouldn't ever find myself in your situation.
