Big pharma doesn't want a cure for anything. They want maintenance of everything.
Gleevec
Harvoni
Antibiotics
Vaccinations in a number of instances
Would you like more examples of you being incorrect from someone who
1) knows what they're talking about?
2) does not receive money from pharmaceutical companies, unless you're worried about the king cake that someone dropped off at my office for my staff yesterday as something that would make me totally biased and untrustworthy?

If it is posturing and they do get VC/grant money....good for them. If it’s real science, then posturing is what they need. If it’s crap science, then it won’t be long before that comes out. They talk a big game, people are (might be) watching now.
And those that say big pharma won’t let this happen...ha Big pharma will look at their science and try to replicate it. You think there is only one pharma company that produces PD1 inhibitors or working on CAR-T drugs? Absolutely not.
Also, to those that say there’s no money in curing cancer... you realize curing is treating? No one is talking about a vaccine. People will still get cancer, just like people still get the flu. Pharma will get theres.

I used to be in this camp when I was ill-informed. We, as a society, do a good enough job giving ourselves chronic medical problems. Our diet is shite, chemicals we're exposed to with or without our consent are shite, our sedentary lifestyle is shite. We're essentially begging pharmaceutical companies to take our money to abate symptoms while we continue to destroy ourselves. Genetic diseases are complicated to say the least. The attack and kill method largely isn't a viable option like it is for foreign invaders. Genetic manipulation, or perhaps bio technology (nanobots) are the future for these chronic conditions but they are probably a long ways off.

This is coming from someone who works on cancer for a living...this guys are full of shite. Outside of the ridiculous quotes in the article, the science is full of holes. Don't waste your time
This is probably what the scientific community said when the guy walked in and suggested using radio waves to kill cancer because he knew radio waves heated metal. Inject metal in tumor and use radio waves. This because he wasn’t not mired in the research and unable to see a different way.

No. That makes sense.
What's possible is loading bacteriophages to inject DNA/RNA snippets that kill a type of cancer or even a few types.
What's impossible is to claim to have a well-tolerated multi-focal bacteriophage that cures every type of cancer without utterly destructive to the host.
What's worse is to make a dumb claim like that through media outlets instead of scientific journals, which essentially serves as an outlet for "on the horizon" medicine.
It's not in them because it's not as advertised.

Someday, someone really is going to cure cancer, but nobody is going to listen.

So you're saying pharmaceutical companies do not have a huge financial incentive to keep selling cancer meds?
Big Pharma is corrupt as frick, but they are not hiding a cure for cancer. Do you really think something like that could be kept a secret?

Big money in fighting/treating cancer, I bet this guy winds up dead in the next few months. Or will be paid big time for his research to go bye bye from pharmaceutical companies. They don’t want a cure, no money in a cure.
