Now that’s an interesting little angle there. If you believe this, however, it requires that you also believe that the US government knew exactly what would happen in the future, as if this is all scripted.

Not necessarily. All we had to do was recognize a war of aggression started by a near- peer, aspiring hegemon and then recognize the opportunity to degrade them as long as they want to without the loss of one American soldier.
That their client state, pseudo-proxy also decided to bite off more than they could chew with the Israelis was just fortuitous lagniappe.

I think the military operated purely on an opportunity to drain the resources of one of our military adversaries.
Like we have done to others in the past and others have done to us.
TBH I bet it was the military trying to drain off Russia in anticipation of China invading Taiwan.
They probably didn’t expect Iran to be this dumb.
