Yes, that's the way to hear the story.

I prefer this one.
quote:

Exodus 21:12 “Whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death."
FWIW, I don't think negatively of those who believe in a higher power, but I do think negatively of those who speak in absolutes and judge others who do not believe the same.

If and when I share my testimony, it will be because I feel like someone is listening with an open mind.

It'll never be to boast or something like that.

True, but that was old law. Jesus was the harbinger of change.

So are you against the beheading (murder) or their religion..?

Just wondering if this is a " do as I say" situation

I'd suggest you do some research on the different covenants that God has made between Himself and man. Unless you can understand these and what they mean, or meant, then you really can't comprehend the bible.

quote:

1 Corinthians 1
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”[c]
20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”[d]

quote:

1 Corinthians 3
18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”[a]; 20 and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”[b] 21 So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours, 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas[c] or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, 23 and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.

Thank you for the reference, but I do not intend to spend anymore time "comprehending" the Bible. No offense intended.

The Catholic Church has never postulated that good works alone will grant you salvation.

I wonder if the poster who advocated "glassing" Muslim mosques and cities skipped that sentence.

Nah but a couple Benjamins back in the day bought your whole family salvation.

I never said that. Of course it wasn't OK to do what I did. I didn't wage war defending my God.

At the time I was Godless.

Can you not see the difference between catholicism and Christianity?

Those unfortunate souls that have misled people have severe judgement to come.

Only Christ saves.

Not Mary, not a pope, not me.

I'm done with this for now, I'm walking on thin ice as it is.

No but I can spot your pride, arrogance, ignorance and assumption as clear as day.
