I'm just saying I would do whatever I think would prolong my life. Family and friends would know it's bullshite. Who cares what everyone else thinks.

You don't see the ignorance in proclaiming to know exactly how you would react in a similar situation without ever having been in a situation remotely similar?
Being in a tank battle and going through years of psychological, emotional and physical torture aren't the same. How many times do you think our military gets their hands on a guy who has been in firefights and thinks he won't say shite, and then breaks like a rotten twig?
You don't KNOW until you face that demon. You and CR are saying that you already know what you would do in a similar situation. That's ignorant.

I'm not talking about what you'd do when your head is on the line. I'm talking about what a person can do when they accept that they've moved past the point where they have hope of coming out alive... when they know there is no hope and nothing will save them.

In college I had a guy pull a gun on me and he had a machete in the other hand. I told him if he shoots me he better kill me so I know I can be a dumbass in that kind of situation...but I also know I wouldn't be a badass with terrorists that are known for chopping heads off.

I'm imagining a situation in which this guy is tortured every single day for 2 years. Every fifth day he is brought in front of a camera and told, "denounce America and we will stop the torture." He holds out, holds out, holds out until he just can't fricking take it anymore. He's broken and welcomes death.

What am I bragging about? And who the frick are you to call me a liar and say I've never faced a situation where I thought I'd not come out on the other side alive? No, I've never been standing in a desert next to a guy who intended to cut my head off. But I have been in situations where I was quite certain I was about to die. It's not fun. I was not some bad arse and I'll even freely admit I was scared shitless.
But don't go accusing me of shite I've not done. I'm not bragging about anything.
