I was talking with my in-laws and said I hope there are no womenfolk coaching with my t-ball team this year. My sister in law freaked out and told me how insensitive I was.

I'm assuming I am wrong because everyone but my wife agreed with her but I figured I would check with the most non-biased group out there, the OT.

Not among rational people that can actually handle hearing different words in the English language.

ETA: It also sounds like one of those terms that is said because it gets a shock laugh. In that case, apparently people can't take a joke.

Based off of a proven "Snowflake Analysis" there are two insensitive assertions in that statement.

quote:

womenfolk

We can't assume gender here, now you are grouping them all together. "We are women, not womenfolk."

quote:

no womenfolk coaching with my t-ball team this year

The whole, "you don't think women can coach?" arguments would be sure to trigger any feminist in this situation.

Sounds like you need to check your privilege.

Are you a Copenhagen or skoal man?

And you seem pretty advanced to be playing tee ball and know how to write sentences.

If it offends "family", your family sucks.

To throw it out in mixed or office company is a bit edgy. But it's not like you said, "Sup Bitches?"

Was she offended by the term or by you not wanting them coaching? Some womenfolk don't explain themselves well when they're offended.

My grandfather used that term all the time. If anyone was offended by it they damn sure never had the guts to call him on it.

I would imagine both.

My wife bossed up with me and helped me smack them around until they understood they weren't to question me. we had just finished dinner so I made my sister in-law bring me a piece of blueberry pie and a cold Natty afterwards.

It isn't insensitive. Just stupid and redundant.

Damn. I use this all the time. Must be why womenfolk shun me.

Not at all. As a matter of fact, when I read the thread title I thought you were talking about women in general. I had to read most of the thread to realize that you were just talking about the word "womenfolk".
