I mean any phrase that takes a crack at one's station on the bottom of the economic food chain is usually frowned upon, especially when it connotes stupidity, laziness, or slovenly behavior.

According to Facebook it is. I referred to myself as being white trash and was put on probation. :)

I'm black. I have a lot of rich and upper middle class white friends. When they refer to someone as white trash, it feels derogatory.
